Default what boat to buy...

Well i was set on getting the Supervee 27. But a little more fundage popped up. I have $400 to spend now. Would you stick with the supervee or is there a better option in the $400 range???

All I have to say is that I saw a Miss Vegas run last weekend and it was awesome. I think that will be the next boat I buy. I have a Top Speed 2 that I ran for the first time last weekend and I was impressed with how well it ran. You may also want to find out what people are running near you, that way they can be more help with the setup.

Cheers
John

Check out the .12 mono build thread and do something like that maybe with a H2O cooled engine. I wouldn't buy RTR there are better options out there. I would definately build/assemble your own because you are going to need to put more money into the SV27 anyway and it still won't be able to keep up with a well-built hull. ...but then again, you might be over budget a little too when your done. It's worth it in my opinion.

In addition to the boat, you're going to need support equipment, fuel, props, batteries, etc. $400 isn't going to put you in a different class of boat, so it might be better to save the extra for the other things you'll need.

Chuck is certainly correct... When I bought my Miss LLUMAR (PROBOAT) I needed $100.00 worth of gear for the field. Totaling $400.00. Now that I have put another $100.00 in upgrades in her, and about another $50 in more batteries and fuel, she is truly an RTR. The hobby, just like any other, requires much time and patience. I now know that there is no such thing as an out of the box RTR.

Kyle,
I was driving down the road today thinking about your post. (I drive a truck so I have plenty of time to think) This is what I came up with: what boat do you want to buy? You should get the boat that makes you happy. Obviously you are going to want to get a quality boat, not some plastic cheapo. Every one that posts here is going to have a different opinion on what boat you should buy and I'm sure they all have very good reasons behind their suggestions. People have suggested everything from RTR to build your own from scratch. I think you need to be realistic with your skill level of building a boat. I know I wouldn't have much luck building one. I think building a boat would be really cool, but maybe that's more of a winter project? I think there is also alot to learn about boat set up from running an RTR.

Anyway, just some thoughts on the matter.
Good luck
John
