Default Chanute KS race 25 and 26 August

The "Wichita RC power boat club" is hosting another race this summer.

It will be held the 25th and 26th of August in Chanute KS.

This club has been very open to running RTRs, and are also supportive of this being a family sport (they have a juniors class for those 12 and under).

They also have many other classes to choose from.

The registration form can be found [link=http://www.impba.net/upload/flyer_b/ChanuteEntryForm2007.pdf]here (click).[/link]

If you are not racing yet, but want to see what it is all about, stop by and check it out. The location of the race is on the entry form

We already made motel reservations...and tower got the struts in (ordered 2 today)...so should be ready to go for the race.

Still trying to figure out what I am going to do about my pipe (got called out for being 94-95 db).

run the inside lane and let off throttle in front of the meter, you could also point your exhaust to the right

Mike, I put a piece of aluminum pipe on my exhaust outlet that I cut at an angle (attached). I pointed the angle toward my rudder and the water (away from the meter). But during the last heat when I ran it, the db meter lady was not at the meter, and I also only wound up having to run a start, and one lap to take the win. In short, I did not really get a chance to see if that solved my noise problem.

Kelly, He never tried it at the race. I think he tried it at his home pond and did not like the way it sounded. It looked pretty big in the pics. It would stink to lose 5 oz by removing the wing, then having to add most of that back on with a muffler.

I am really surprised that the add on mufflers are not a lot more popular with the RC retailers. I have looked on the web doing searches for mufflers, and silencer with out much luck. Sounds like cooper is trying to design a quiet pipe for these boats, but that it will require a new radio box to fit. All I really want is some sort of silencer I can add on between the pipe mount and the transom without having to modify the hull to make it fit (or change my radio box). Maybe just epoxy in another mount, and put it back there.

I havent been on in a while...
the muffler sucked !! It made it sound like it was some sort of hybrid type electric / gas combo !!!! It was just way to big.

Who is ready for Chanute? I think we will see a fair number show up.......I think Bob Finn should sell tickets to his trailer.....his AC works extremely well. going to be a smoker.

Clint, I have my Road Runner up and ready..........

Glad you posted here Kelly...reminded me that I need to fill out and send in our entry forms. I updated the link in the first post to the new name of the entry form. Should work now.

Are you bringing your mod RTR there?

Sounds like we just might have a race here guys !!
Are you bringing Sam Kelly ? My daughter has been practicing so she can try and beat him !! ( he's a very good driver, better than most adults ! )
If you guys get up there before we do save us a good spot, big enough for at least 3 easy-ups, 1 trailer, with power !
Its gonna be fun...

It sounds like a great race is shaping up. I am still not sure if I can make it but I might FedEx my entry fees tomorrow just in case. If I can make it, I will bring my Mod RTR and my 60 Hydro.

Clint, that would be great if you can make it too. Kelly, Norm, you, me, and possibly Kip...could make for a pretty good Mod RTR race.

My family plans on getting there around 2 or 3pm.

Sam is still a unknown....he has a perfect score in stock vegas to defend....I put a cvr in mine and I have it tuned in well enough for the race, poor boat has more dings and cracks it is a wonder it floats. Road Runner is smoking. Double T (toyotatruckin) should have his gas cat (which runs very well) ready for the race. I still Don't know if I am as fast as you Sean but I think I am getting close.

Like you were'nt fast enough already Kelly...
They're not dings and cracks, they're speed scratches !

Hopefully Sam will be able to make it, The girls really want to race him pretty bad !!!

We are going to leave about 10, so we should be there around 2 or 3 also...

Sam Miller Racing will hopefully be announcing a stand-in driver for the Chanute Ks race.....we are looking at a couple of drivers to command the orange and white boat around the course. It was a tough decision for Sam, but other commitments have come up. #1 on our list is Chase Pickel another racer from Wichita who although he has not driven a Vegas before he is no stranger to rc boat racing.

Sean, Norm, Kip and Clint it is time to put on the game face......the Mod Class calls us. I have made some improvement but it will be some tight racing and I am stoked.

Clint, I sure hope to see the Road Runner this weekend.

We need to get Double T (toyotatruckin) pumped up and commited....he put together a SMOKIN Gas Cat.

Let the Smack Begin

First...before the smack talk...I would like to say that I truely hope someone takes this grudge trophy from me this weekend. It would look odd to have my name on it 24 times . But...whoever takes it...is going to have to earn it...

I think I am ready for the race...every time I touch my boat, I come away bleeding. I hope none of you guys get in front of me at Chanute...it would be like a warm knife through butter...[8D]

That is a mighty fine frophy there and it is time to have another name put on it, I will polish out the speed scratches and be ready. I am trying to see who I can find who wants to drive Sam's stock boat.

It looks like I will be there to get the grudge trophy - it's best if we keep it in Texas!

I have thought it would be nice to have a nice yellow stripe on the bottom of my sponsons.

Kelly - The yellow stripe on the bottom of the sponsons would probably be great for the pickup boat to locate your boats.

I figure that it has something to do with KS sucking...or blowing...one or the other

I gotta say...since it is time for someone else to win that grudge trophy...it would be nice to keep it in Texas.. 8-).

Of course, that means you will have to go down to LA in November and defend it Clint [X(]

The race in La in november is one I am really trying to fit in my schedule....I had a lot of fun racing with Chad and I need to add some more speed stripes. I may have a conflict though I have a Major Sales event in November and I think it is the same weekend.[] Norm you need to dig in there The Texans are teaming up. I think rough water set-ups are in order.
