RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Sleepy306, There is no penalty on not finishing, BUT, your boat also wouldn't be ale to be judged by the forum either. Since this is more of an instructional and fun build, if you want in, I'll list you under the rigger catagory
Nickos, consider yourself entered under the hydroplane catagory
Any other takers? We're down to 6 days until the start

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
I have a question, since so many people are in different time zones is the start time based on our time zone or this forum as the time zone time? If you notice I am posting this at 815am New Years Eve morning and the time on the server 215pm, I think the forum is on Greenwich Mean Time. So do we all get the same start time and finish time, that will mean I can start at 6pm but need to finish by 6pm on April 30th?

I can't see worrying about who's in which time zones since it doesn't really matter anyway, Some have probably already started. This whole deal is suposed to be for fun. May the best build win and as F16man said, GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Well the Horn has sounded the build is ON!!!!!!!
Here are some pic's of the FF.21 kit I am going to start building, I have the NR .21 LS and an OPS3280 pipe ( I will need everything else ). I will be buying some speedmaster hardware and Hughey flex shaft and CD machine turnfin, I also need some CF for the turnfin spar which didn't come in this kit (I have a 4'x8' sheet of pink foam in the garage for this kit, foam wasn't included either ( this kit was not off the shelf bought, it was given to me and there are a couple pieces that weren't included that a bought kit would included)). I will have a Fuel Tank made for the boat also, No Sullivan tank for this boat. I also have some CF angle to make servo mounts, I will probably use a bigger servo than what is recommended in the directions (rather have a little more muscle on the rudder). I hope everyone is as excited about building as I am, I hope to have running video of the boat before the finish date of 4/30 ( I hope to race this boat in the first race of our district season on 5/4).

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Hey guys, Cheese's boat kit is just a bunch of parts I had sitting up on my shelf for a long time.
Is it too late for me to enter? I've been working with Gooy on a new .12 design.... the GOOYCHEESE .12 I actually might make it in to a kit! Should I get 2 protos cut for us cheese?

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
I would take one for SURE !!!!! PLEASE !!!!! I have everything for the .12 boat already, If I had a cut kit I could build it in less than 1 month. I plan on just transferring my Frankenstein .12 parts to a new boat ( My .12 has so many patches holding it together I am calling it Frankenstein). Tom what would you recommend for spar material ( an exact part number from McMaster Carr would be perfect, or link)...........................
Thank You,
Paul

Before the builds get too far, I wonder if it would be easier to follow each one if they were in their own threads? Perhaps make the title "Hydro Build Challenge:" followed by your user name and boat. That would make mine:

I like that idea Chuck, will make keeping track of who's doing what in their builds easier. Tom, this IS NOT a closed competition just because the start date is upon us. Since you are talking a rigger, that's where I will list you

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Add me in Hydro Junkie. I have been hard at it since the first of the year. I am building three JD 28/30 WOF tunnels this winter. But saved one build for this challenge. I will start a thread of my build. It will be titled "Hydroracer11G's Hydro challenge build".

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Come on everyone, there are like 3 or 4 people actually building so far. I know there are a few waiting on the either a kit or wood or whatever to start there builds ( hell I am waiting to, but just trying to get something done ). The first 2 weeks of this build are almost over now, that leaves roughly 14 weeks left. Come on everyone if you haven't started or want to start a build there is still time to finish a boat in 14 weeks, I am pretty sure piper chuck said there is a prize for best in each class and best over all. Lets get our build on
Thanks
Paul
Thanks
