Now I have tested my Z-drive bouth i singleprop and duoprop version. No issues after 4 hours runningtime each. 1hp 25cc petrol engine, not to powerful. Here are pics. Videos of it running can be seen on the AMPS facebook page.

off shore Vega Dart
Hi Guys,This is my first post.I've just recently found this site and have questions and a few things to share.First,I'm a vintage model/toy collector, started mainly with buying, selling and collecting 1930s' to 1950s' tether cars and engines. But as you know, all of this stuff overlaps into other areas, such as R/C boats. I'm building some 1/8 scale vintage racecars, but not a boat builder, hell,I can barely swim.Anyway,I've ended up having some model boats and motors, some rare.I guess I'll start with the offshore racing boat, the Alfa Romeo "Vega Dart". A one-off model built in the mid seventies by Howard T. Weeks of Fort Lauderdale,Florida, who worked as an in-house craftsman/model builder at "Hobby House" camera shop,(same town). It is 60" long, scratch built using all wood construction, and was powered with a water cooled Super Tigre 65 engine, gone when I bought the boat. The real boat was powered with twin Alfa Romeo V8 Montreal engines. There's a youtube film of this boat(the real one) in action, unfortunately it breaks in two.BUT,Sonny Levi's hull design was copied for years to come.If anyone(special K,?)knows more about Howard T. Weeks, his work, the hobby shop, etc.,please let me know. Also,I have an AMPS outdrive with serial number OD242764R,can someone shed light on this? I know it's an older design, made in England, but that's about it.I'll put that with photos in another post. Thanks for anything,Phil D

SpecialK,that's awesome,so you can relate to the Vega Dart and those snapshots! I figured if anyone here knew about Hobby House and possibly Howard, you would.Thank you very much for responding, and yes,the boat is very well built.I understand that after Hobby House,Howard moved to Georgia, and unfortunately passed on.I sure would like to see more of his work. Here's the AMPS outdrive,#OD242764R.All I know about it is what's obvious; It's an earlier casting, made in England(paperwork printed in 1975),and looks new except for the poorly polished bottom.Could that be original? When I bought this maybe 10 yrs. ago,I was told that it was a factory special racing version, any truth to that? I'd like to learn all I can about this and will appreciate any input. As I mentioned in my first post,I don't know much about these models and I can prove it! I also have this AMPS T4 ,K&B 7.5 engine. Can someone direct me to any posts that describe these models? I've skimmed over this thread, but haven't read about where the T4 sits in the pecking order,or if anything sets it apart from the other OBs.Thanks for anything,Phil

Thanks,I didn't think the OD came polished like that(shelf queen). Can you tell me what the serial # means? So a T4 w/Fox would be older English, mine comparable to other factory branded 7.5s ?

You're not alone. I've certainly done that(along with passing up something I wanted.Never there when you go back and now you're kicking yourself). So now if I want cash,I'll sell off things I'm not too attached to if possible.Otherwise,if the buyer has to have my item,I prefer trading up or down to let go..for something I'd rather have. That way it doesn't seem to hurt so much in the future, and the buyer is happy, win win..pretty basic. Even though this hydro was built only ten years ago,it would still take your first born to get Dickie Do and the kit from me.Thanks for responding,Phil

1,4 Amps gas
Last weekend, I was at a powerboat meeting in the east of Germany. For me the most interesting was a 1,4 amps built on inboard. The hull is only covered with foils under it should be original white. The tunnel broadening is bolted.
2 old Aeromarine 1.4 Cats were also to be admired by the same owner.
All 3 for sale. However, not cheap.
The amp 1.4 should cost without motor about 400€

1,4 Amps gas update
AMPS 1:3,5 Outboard
They did not know what they were doing!
Unfortunately, I experienced this much too late and had no chance to prevent it.
Rare AMPS Outboard somewhere in Germany rebuilt - destroyed!
The guy who did this is very proud of his conversion ...
He is pleased that the outboard now has 400 grams less weight.
And now better fit to his model boat.

The 1.4 amps cat is back in the water ....
This cat has however been modified ...

I wonder who has made all of those Amps hulls in the pics Kai? Its a shame they destroyed the rare Amps gas outboard.
Here is a project I have been working on for the Amps-International Hobbies Line. I am making new molds of the Amps Gas tunnel, and soon the Amps gas outboard cowling to match. Here are some pics of the molds and first hull.

Letting you guys know who like Amps products, that my replica Amps hulls are on sale from today thru.... So if you have wanted one, check them out. Here is the post I had made on other forums...
I am doing a previously unannounced sale for the fall, and its a really good one. The most I have ever offered off of my products, and it is a site wide sale. Scale, Extreme Scale, Wild Thing Mono, RSX Rigger kits, replacement cowlings, stand kits, hydro trailer kits are all at 15% off, while most everything else on the site is around 8-14% off...This includes all the Sport Hydroplane and Kneel down Hydroplane kits fiberglass hulls and outboard cowlings that I offer..Including the STV cat! Check it out. I am not disclosing the ending of the sale, so don't delay! Anything fiberglass related please understand I build to order, and I cannot judge how many things might be ordered, so please give me the time your build deserves! So check out the site, www.mlboatworksrc.com, and feel free to ask questions to my email, [email protected]. Thanks! Mike Luszcz, ML Boatworks
