Thank you-Thank you- Thank you- Thank you. I have been looking for these sheets for 20 years I have one in whitelitnin since The mid eighties bearings need replacing I've rebuilt it a couple times but not the bottom end now if I can find out how the aluminum ring comes off. I run mine not set on a shelf. Have an almost new pair right - left drive. Have had all since the 80s. Running original U-joint. By the way Thank you.

Don't mean to stick my nose in but I've been reading all the AMPS stuff. I have and use my three outdrives. I've had mine apart but don't remember gear size. Stock Drive Products in New York has all sizes of bevel gears. They list a brass one that I believe would fit nicely or will make any gear you like. http://www.sdp-si.com

I've always used the same lower unit oil that's used in real outboards. ( for about 30 years). In my outdrives.

when we were referring to gear size that was for some prototypes that were made they were doing 2 to 1 gear ratio of I do have one outboard that has the 2 to 1 gear ratio setupa lot of the problems was the companies that were wanting to remanufacturing wanted too much upfront money for tooling cost to cut the exact same gears now I have found one of the original suppliers in the UK that still makes the gear that was used in the early amps outboards. , IH in Colorado in the late eighties started using their own supplier but as you can tell a lot of the gears work crap and turn to powder quick

One of Millars series was to always use an aluminum propeller it is easier to replace the aluminum propeller than the gears a lot of people switched over to Brass or beryllium and paid the price when they struck something in the water

Hi Everyone,
I need to read through the complete thread as I've just found one of these in my attic (Loft), and forgot I'd even got it, I can't remember buying it. Does anyone know where I can download a manual for these outboards, as I will now tear it down and then clean/re-grease everything.

Mine has a 12v brushed motor, but I will change it to a comparable brushless one, due the their efficiency. Not sure what I will do with it after I've checked and cleaned it. Are there any 'old' style hulls out there that would be of a suitable size?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated,

Regards

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, here's a few pictures of my Amps. I'm not sure which exact model it is, and it may have been an i.c. version before I acquired it. As both my local club and my Sons local club in Germany do not allow i.c., I'll be installing an equivalent .46-..50 brushless motor - one of these look suitable for me (running on 5 or 6s).

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking..._46_Glow_.html

I just need to identify a suitable hull now. I'm running a couple of fast electric boats, but not 1/4 scale ones (Pro boat Miss Geico 29 and a Modified vintage Robbe Wavemaster).
So need look for something bigger to suit the Amps. I'm thinking of doubling up one of Aeronauts Spitfire.

I want to share a very special boat with you all today. One with a huge amount of history, and a GREAT story behind it, verified by two sources. So, this boat, is the 2nd SX100 tunnel and Amps outboard made by Miller and Bob Agnew. This was Bobs personal boat, and used for advertising in the mid to late 70's.. This boat, was given to the head of OMC, some time around 1976-1978 as a gift. This was verified by Bob Agnew to Special K, not only verbally, but on an original Photography (copy of that photo shown below). On the back of the photo it stated that the boat had been given to the head of OMC sometime between '76-79..but could not remember exactly when. So, that is the boat in the photo. Now, fast forward to a few years ago...The guy I just picked this boat up from, was working part time for the head of OMC, who was retiring. He and some others, cleaned up this gentlemans office. When the guy got all he wanted, he turned to the guys cleaning, and said if there is anything you guys want in there, take it, I don't want anything else. This guy saw the boat, and scooped it up. So a couple months ago, I get a call from a guy that sold me the first amps hull I obtained, a gold baja, and says Mike, I got this guy with a really old Amps boat, he wants to sell it. I said, OK, send me pics. So he does, and I remembered seeing this boat in a picture many many pages back on this thread...sure enough, I found it..there it was..after all these years. Never had fuel run through it, still in great shape. Turns out, this boat was actually the first production SX100 and Amps outboard, with Special K's being the first Prototype SX100 and outboard! Unreal, it has been in the USA since the late 70's, and almost 40 years later, emerges! I feel extremely lucky to have this boat in my possession now! It just arrived today! Enjoy the pics! Mike

Original Photo from the mid 70's. This photo is in Special K's possession:

How is the trim adjusted on these outboards?

The hull is 37" long, and it has a hull mounted trim unit that tilts it up and down. If you were stateside I might have a hull that would fit your needs, but shipping to the UK would probably be expensive. Mike

Truly upset I had to sell the boat. Even more now I know the history of this boat. Good to know it's in Ken's hands though.

The history I know of this is: I purchased the boat from a friend back in 2005. I meet him back in 94 and he had it then. Believe he had in his collection for around 10 years or so. He purchased this boat and a T4 with Fox powerhead at the same time.

The T4

Just picked up a 38" Molinari. It'll be a winter project, some year.. Wondering what powerhead to use? It came with a 8701 7.5 which will need bearings and a good cleaning. But that will go on the shelf. Have good 8701, 8702, 11cc and 13cc powerheads to use. What will this hull handle? I do plan on bracing certain areas when the build comes.

After getting it cleaned up, there's more damage from shipping. The transom needs help big time. Besides the transom, the hull is very clean. The cowl needs work. This I knew on the sale, but more damage via shipping.

Thought it was a Molinari after looking at pics on here. However, it looks just like my Bud boat.. My plan is to make it a Martini Racing boat.

Shipped to me less than $100. Wish I'd seen where it stated the carrier would be sent. It alone weighed twice the boat. Surprised it wasn't damaged more. Live and learn...

Even though it's a Seebold, going with the Martini layout. Hope to get to the body/cowl work this winter.

also some useless knowledge , Millar was good friends of the owner who made Fox engines that's the reason in the early days any original motor you will find Fox Motors in them , all they were was retrofit airplane motorsRobert told me many years ago that the motors were weak and a pain in the ass to ever keep running but his father got them for free so that's what they used for testing and putting out Motors in the early days

My friend is in Louisville, Ky, born and raised. He and his father are into hot rods, customs builds, car show scene, etc.(besides RC). He knew the gent that owned the boat/motors for years and kept bugging him about it. I can only assume they knew each other thru either the RC hobby or hot rods.. That be the extent of my knowledge about these items. Been out of touch with my friend for couple of years now. Might need to call ole Too Low and see what he's up to now-a-days....
