Actually, yes. It's more HP and RPM than an OS but the downside is reworking the exhaust as it's not a side exhaust engine.

But what about torque Ron? HP isn't what spins props, torque is. To use the smaller engine, he may have to prop down to get the RPMs into a range the 12 would run well at

On the issue with the two supper tiger 18 I burnt up Hobby Services warranted one of them but not the other. If I have to pay to fix it I rather get a better engine. Talking to the salesmen for novarossi he says that people have put the .12 and they are happy with it and also people in his area put the .21 5 or 7 port and race in the sport 20 class. Most of what I have read on rcu people say that a .21 is too much. In my opinion the supper tiger 18 not enough. Does anyone have am opinion on this and have engine suggestions?

I am not sure who would say that or did ??
you want power in a boat cuz that props is constantly pushing the hull in the water

I have read on rcu that some people put a 21 and switched back to a smaller engine because it was too much power (I cant remember who). Any way my thinking is if you put an engine with more power than you need you can throttle it back so the carb does not open as much and get it to run like you want. In a setup like that the engine would not work as hard and would last longer. I know the .21s are bigger but they are not that muck heaver and I dont have a problem re rigging the boat. Just wanted some opinions on this from you guys that have more experience than me witch is probably all of you. Thanks

I know that Jerry Dunlap has dropped a .21 in one of them but it will take some work to do and it will need a larger fuel tank with at least 8 oz.. The driveline could benefit by going up to a 3/16" cable setup as you'd need larger props.

I talked to hobby services and they will now warranty the second engine but I dont think I want to use it I want something better. I have a 12 novarossie should be in soon for a jae 12 I want to see what I think of this engine before I decide what I will get for it. I never had a novarossi people talk highly of it.

I race FE and we like to over power rather than not enough
things for us run cooler with bigger power
we can always prop down if things get to fast

most are always finding ways to go faster....

I can't find the video but I once saw on youtube a video of this Hydro with a stock Dynamite .32 motor and it hauled !
I think it's a drop in
I have one in a Shockwave 36 that I will be pulling out to make a 6 or 8s brushless setup

My report after getting the engines back from hobby services (I am coming to the conclusion that the supper tiger 18 is as good as the old Fox 25 with the mk carb) (Junk)

I am trying to break in the engine after hobby services changed the piston, sleeve, and bearings. (the engine is a supper tiger 18) When I run the boat it will run for about a minute and then stop. I tried using another fuel tank and changing the fuel lines and glow plug, this did not do any good. The low speed needle is at 2 1/2 turns the high speed needle is at 4 1/4 turns. Could it be the air temperature is too low it is 45 degrease? Looking for some help had nothing but trouble with these engines from day one.

I'm going to order the Deuce this weekend and am wondering which nitro % to get,30% or 50%,is there a big difference in speed/and getting on plane faster when going slow? I've read it's harder to tune with 50%,but have had my Traxxas Nitro Stampede for 14 years and know how to tune nitro engines good,so really don't think it would be to finicky, does it gain a few mph?...also in my checkout cart: ),I have the grim racer prop and prop balancer, and grim fin, grim grease, also after run oil,and the rear view mirrors from the UL-Superior.

Ledet,I think it's to rich at 4 1/4,I would go to 4,if it runs better run a few tanks continuing to go lower,3 7/8,3 3/4...until it shows signs of getting lean, then go back up 1/8 or so.

Kennethfunk, you do have to remember, your Stampede is a buggy and not a boat. This means THEY ARE TUNED DIFFERENTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another difference is that the boat in question is direct drive and your Stampede is clutched and gear reduced both in the gearbox and differential. To take this one step further, you don't want to use your buggy fuel in a boat since it doesn't have enough lubricant in it.
As far as the little .18 through .21 MARINE ENGINES go, they love nitro. That being said, there's nothing wrong with using 50% in a Vegas.
Ledet, what are you using for fuel? Pipe Length? Prop? Shaft grease? These all can make a difference in how well your boat runs as well as how quickly it gets "broken in"

I fixed My vegas by replacing the supper tiger with a os cvrmx all of my problems have been salved. after all I found out and experienced with the supper tiger it is not a good engine. Anyway I am running 30% helli fuel with a 440 prop that I am doing some work on, I am running grim racer grease, I just put a nova rossi muffled pipe and set it at 8 1/4 inches. Some guy named Rod Geraghty helped me get my JAE 12 running great. He explained some thing things to me that made a big difference. My JAE went from about 30 MPH to almost 60 MPH.
What would set a pipe at on an .18?

I got 2 vegas duece boats in December. One thing I learned about the supper tiger engine it comes with is if you run it a little bite lean one time it wont run well again. I fried both engines. Hobby serves rebuilt them and they never ran well again.

Ledet, if Rod Geraghty is helping you, stick to him like glue. He's one person that REALLY KNOWS ENGINES!!!!!!!!! I'd ask him about the pipe length since he knows more about using the little engines than I do and no, I'm not afraid to admit it
