I'd just rebuild the K&B if it needs it, the price tag on any new engine will really give you sticker shock! [X(]
CMB may have some big-blocks yet. Mike Hallam at http://www.hallammarinehobby.com/ in Canada would be the guy to contact.

I kind of wish that Jerry Dunlap was around right now but he's at the NAMBA Nat's. He's the one who designed the Dumas Skater. The problem is that it didn't quite come out of the mold as designed. If I were to drop the big bucks for something like a CMB, I'd find a better hull to drop it into. If the boat is only for play and not racing you really can't go wrong with the K&B as they're a good workhorse engine and more forgiving than the racing engines.

i dont have any pic of that boat it was done in the early nintys twin 3.5 woulr run great i think the only problem i had with the twin 7.5 wasi got prop walk and i was able to fix some of that with little toe in on the motors i have just put a hull together with a single k&b 7.5 im hopping for 45 to 50 mph when i set it up with twins i centered the engines to the sponsons and had the fuel tanks in each sponson and had th cg at jist in front of the last step

Looks great!
Let us know how it runs. I have the same hull and may put an O/B on it as my .82 I/B has been acting up and is a little too much for the hull.
Thanks.

looks like you have a great looking hull i had a lot of work to get mine to where it is but thats half the fun been thinking about adding another engine to mine thinking about making a cowl for the 7.5 to give it the scale look keep the pics comming dont forget to use a trimable engine mount witch will make dialing in the ride alot more easy keep us posted on the progress

I lucked out on the hull by finding a brand new hull, when did they stop making them? Mine has a date of 04/05/06 (I think) written on the Dumas tag. I am waiting for some Hi-Jack mounts for these motors, I was told they are at the design phase so who knows when we'll see them.

RE: repowering a dumas skater .67 ?
They quit making them for three reasons,
1) the hull was too short, only 40" this means poor handling at higher speeds.
2) the build quality was below average, the stringers in mine were not really strait, this ment a big problem angle cutting a custom motor mount.
3) the rear hatch covers were only available in abs, the .80 OPS motor vibrations would fatigue the abs plastic covers causing them to crack.
