We are having a great time here at the Winter Nats!

I did well with my Bullitt Thunderboat. In the video I was just picking the boat up after the race as I overshot the very narrow retrevial area.
400 then 300 then 400 then 300 points. I ended up with 300 as apparently someone passed me and we didn't see it.
I respect the final decision of the CD. All is well.

The ABox Crackerbox was running very well. Very well until I cut across another boats wake and flipped.
We have lots more racing to go.

It was a little warm today (84) but we managed...

Great people and a really good time!

Joe

Hey Joe.

Thanks for the update. Looks like a blast! Keep up the good driving and bring home some trophies.

Joe that's the part I seen you grabbing that long stick. Mr Thompson in his typical black barn boots. Good luck and bring home a trophy. How is Pete doing? I did catch a video of Kathy doing a launch. The feed isn't the best. Today no Video so far, they were talking rain on the chat box. I almost feel like I'm their. until I look outside. We want a National Champ!!! Get-er done
I had 2 last place finish last night on the track!! I redone the shocks and changed the gearing, bad ideal Still I managed mid 40 laps

I will be within an hour of the Winternats site over the weekend. I hope to stop in and say hi to Pete and Joe. I'm not sure anyone else from Elmira made the trip. Roger
Hey Roger, how long are you going to be in Florida? We will be heading down toward the end of February. Going to Disney again.

I see you have your eye on a Cobra II! Could be a good hull. John Otto gave his thumbs up.

Hey Guys,

What battery set-up are you using on your JAE 12's? (Neil, what batteries are you using in your SkyFly?)

Been watching the winternats on rc racing events - even though it's not the best quality, it's good to see soft water and hear the engines!

I will probably run this battery on my JAE 12.

I like this place http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/cus...ks.aspx?mid=20
the Kan 2/3 AA 700 are a good cell I've had no problems with the $35.00 Fkysky. The $17 I have had problems.

Tom, I use a little larger capacity 7.4V LiPo pack with 350MAH and a UBEC to drop the voltage to 5V (a couple of voltage dropping diodes in the switch harness works as well as the UBEC). I find that some of the small HiTec servos do not tolerate the 7.4V very well. With the 350mah pack I can go about 10-12 runs before worrying about charging. On my RC cars the 200 LiFe pack seemed to need a charge after 4-5 four minute runs. A lot depends on what servos are used. On my RC cars I use digital steering servos that draw more power than the analog servos. On my larger hulls with larger servos, I've been going to either 7.4V 800mah LiPo's or 1100mah 6.6V LiFe's to make sure I do not need to charge during the day. Roger

Yes that lower cost one. Tom
I race RC trucks and the internal parts on the steering wheels started to break ,their only plastic. My steering hand may be too strong. And you don't get many control settings.
I did notice a $55 Flysky that one may be newer.

I switched to LiFe's last year for Rx and never looked back. Virtually no charge loss which means no last minute charging. At 6.6v no voltage regulator is needed. I use all digital servos and find these extremely reliable.

Hey Guys,
I just ordered 2 of these to try out. Including shipping they came to around $7 each.

Not sure. Web site says an EH connector. One of the reviews from the US warehouse says it comes with a Futaba, JR connector. This is were I ordered it from.

If you order from China warehouse, they suggest purchasing a JR to EH adaptor.

I should have them by the end of the week and I'll post what they came with.

Make you use an LiFe compatible charger, do not LiPo mode for these.

Hi guys!

We did rather poorly (8th and 11th place) in Thunderboat and Crackerbox.
The Bullitt and ABox performed flawlessly! They ran very well and we had zero mechanical issues.
That leaves driver error...

It was very windy and I pushed it too far trying to do better. I flipped the Tboat in one heat and got taken out by two other boats in another. The other two heats went very well. The new Bullitt actually scared me a little on the straights...

The ABox suffered from an itchy trigger finger. In the 3rd round, it was so windy that the boat had a hard time turning!
Of the two heats of Crackerbox in the 3rd round, 9 boats did not finish. Thats how windy it was!

We had a great time and shook hands with hundreds of people! It was an amazing week!

Over all, I give the 2012 Orlando Winter Nationals a 10+ for fun!

See everyone soon!

Joe
