Sounds like I need to buy a DB meter so I can be sure I meet the noise limits If I remember right, it's 87 Db, isn't it?
You have to remember, Craig, I don't do riggers. Needless to say, I won't be trying to race that rigger either

HJ, Don't worry too much about a meter. Craig has one for Stony Pond. Just put some mufflers in your tool box just in case. Carey Lake and Elmira follow IMPBA noise recommendations:
With an internal stinger and an add on muffler most of us are in the mid-to low 80db range. RC
Noise Rule
At all IMPBA sanctioned events all boats MUST meet the following conditions, and boat operators accept the included mandates.1. A commercially available noise measurement device (Radio Shack or equivalent) must be used. The noise measurement device will be set to the "A" weighted measuring scale, fast response.2.The maximum allowed dB level for IMPBA Sanctioned events will be 92 dB.
3. Measurements must be made from the shoreline area, between buoy #6 and the starting line. The measuring device will be set at a minimum height of 4' to 6' above the ground, with the device pointed approximately 90 degrees to the running path of the boats 25 feet back from the waters edge*. Stable mounting such as a tripod is strongly recommended. Care should be taken to assure the operator of the measuring device is in a safe location. With an internal stinger and an add on muffler most of us are in the mid-to low 80db range. RC

I may have to bring a big scale boat with me as the little Pak has a standard NR pipe on a 180 header with the NR 21 I dropped in during the build. Not sure how loud it will be as I've not run it in months

HJ...Have you added internal stingers to any of your old nitro pipes? It's pretty easy to do...piece of K&S brass tube fit inside the pipes's stinger back to the fatest part of the pipe (or just short of it) with a couple of slits were it meets the beginning of the pipe stinger for drainage. Hold in place with JB Weld. Takes about 15 minutes and can be removed with a little heat and pushing it out. Really knocks down the DB level and really does not hurt perfomance after the pipe length is reset. Looking forward to meeting you. RC

I haven't hardly touched the little boat since I got it home from Madison in 2011, other than to machine engine mounts and do some clean up. I hope to bring it along, if nothing else to let Craig and Neil see my handy work first hand. I know one of them couldn't believe my motor mounts that I made with a Sherline mini-mill

Actually, I'll be bringing a couple of "pit tables", starter, fuel, battery, roof, chairs and all the normal stuff along. It doesn't take that much room or weigh that much so it's not a big deal. What I probably won't be bringing with me is a generator like I did last road trip as it wasn't ever used

That's the weekend we're leaving home, unfortunately. After last summer's road trip to Excelsior Springs MO, I figure it's going to take 6 to 7 days to go cross country as it took us 6 to go the distance last time. Truth be told, we actually had to kill time along the way back in June as we would have got to our campground a day before we were scheduled to arrive and would have had to find another place to spend the extra day

Okay guys, the wife's got the time off and my vacation request is in. As soon as I get a yeah or nay, I'll give you all a head's up. If everything goes right and we can head east, does the wife need to bring her Atlantic tug?

We are hosting the gas Nats in July. The pond has a weed issue in June Craig has a sound issue with the town. But he is working on adding a higher burm. That may be solved by the time you come. He has met with several of the towns personal. And is working with them to solve any noise issues. Rochester Model BC is north of Craig's pond a 15 min ride. We hopefully will resolve all running problems.

Any updates guys? The wife and I are starting to plan out our route so if there's anyone running or racing over the weekend of 6/20, it would help with our setting up a schedule. There is one change on this trip. The poor little truck won't be coming this time. The wife has decided that she has to have AC so we had to go out and get something more "her style". That means no trucks on this run. Instead, we went out and got a larger tow vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe. If the wife's not happy now, I'm in serious trouble

HJ, I am sure we will be able to run somewhere while you are here. The Carey Lake site will most likely be available, but may have some weed issues. It will depend on how bad the weeds are...but last year we could still run, but had to get thru some weeds at the shore. Stony Pond in Canandaigua (or to be more specific...Hopewell, NY) is working hard on getting a fair noise ordinance in place. I am hoping Blackout will be able to invite a few friends over to run from time to time. As we noted earlier, all of us in the area are trying to run pipes with stingers and good mufflers that get our db levels way below the IMPBA levels. Hope to meet you in June. RC

I just saw the post on the gas race in the other forum. Too bad it's a month after I'll be in town. On the flip side, it's only one or two more week(s) from then until the Gold Cup in Kennewick WA so I guess I'll have to wait for the turbines to tear up the Columbia River

I was just looking at the weather report for the Canandaigua area,
Monday 10:00 AM
Clear w/77% humidity, winds at 9 and 10% chance of snow with a present temperature of 1 F
I hope you all are staying warm

HJ, I just got back from Florida and I can say that it is mighty cold here. There were minus numbers all over the Rochester area this morning! We just might get above freeezing by time you get here in June!! RC
#4073
You're getting frozen and I could go running tomorrow, if I had a boat ready to go. We're looking at a possible 60F and mid to upper 50s the rest of the week. While the weather is great for everything else, it's killing the ski areas as well as the snowpack in the Cascades which could, heaven forbid, cause a drought this summer

Okay Guys, 11 weeks until the wife and I hit the road, ANY UPDATES? We need to start planning the where and when of stops along the way and how much boating stuff we need to bring, if any
Thanks
Thanks

HJ...still hard water here! I'm thinking a couple of weeks before we warm up enough to go boating. If you do Facebook, you can keep up with whats happening by going to the Rochester Model Boat Club (RMBC). We are planning to host the Gas Nats in July. So, I'm sure you will be able to try out either Carey Lake or Stony Pond. Also, it looks like there will be a race in Elmira the weekend of June 13-14. Send me a PM with your e-mail, and I will keep you posted on where we are running when you are here. RC
