Default tc31 needs new engine suggestions for drop in replacement.

my tc 31's dynamite .32 just went south. i think something internal is bent it is very hard to turn. motor is out of boat soon to be dismantled to fnd cause of failure. main complaint with boat before engine failure was EXCESSIVE cavitation i could not stop. lowered strut WAY DOWN in water and still cavitated. thinking of buying new boat. maybe shockwave 36???? suggestions please and maybe some pointers on what could have caused engine failure

EDIT:: problem found. main crank bearing seized.

There are many tihngs that could have caused your cavitation problems. The boat will take off and not suck air if you give it a toss when launching it, not just plopping it in the water. You could have cooked the motor by not running it at a fast enough speed to keep water flowing through the head, running it out of the water too long, blocked flow, cracked lines, lousy fuel, the carb too lean and the list goes on.
I've already mentioned a bad-ass engine several times before that could make the boat faster than snot but nobody has tried it yet that I know of, a Nova Rossi .28. This little puppy in a 'riiger made the first 100+MPH pass at Thread Lake in Flint, MI last year taking the "C" hydro record. Now it won't do that in your Cat but it shows how wicked that little mill is.

Are you running the Stock Prop, and has it been Sharpened and Balanced?
If it has not been S&B that Is the cause of your cavitation. If you were excesivly revving the enginw While it was cavitating, that is Most Likely what happened to the bearing. You probably have a bent rod also.
What engine temps were you running the day it happened?
Personally I would Rebuild what you have and Tweak it while your in there.

No problem. He just moved to Del Rio recently. Contacting him on the weekends is usually the best time as he travels a lot during the week. I know that he sells a lot of items that aren't on the site so he may let you know what else he has available that you might need to make the engine swap easier.

(210) 392-2271 It's under "Contact Us" on the site.
I've only talked to Glenn once. It seems like we've got a mutual acquaintance for as far as we are apart, BASS pro fisherman Kevin VanDam so we talked fishing more than anything.

The 440\3 is not enough prop for the TC31 no wonder you smoked it, a sharpened, balanced, and Polished M445 will work Much Better.
New bearings for that thing are Cheap, stock from DYN are about $10ea, Boca has em for that engine starting at $28 and going up to $69 for their ceramics. I can get Real Good bearings for it also for a better price than Boca.

Yes, you're over-revving the motor using the X-440/3. WW and I hit upon the X-445 kind of by accident. We were digging through my box of props and he wanted to try that one out. We never said that it is the best prop for the boat, just the best one that I had handy but so far a lot of people have since gotten one and have loved it! A Prather 220 came in a very good second place.

Back when I was cutting props for "Him" we do not speak of,,,, the M445 was the Go To prop for both the stock TC31 and the SW36, for high nitro users and mod engines the M545 and some of the better tuners could get one to turn the X646.

If your talking about the 440\3 you probably wont stop it from "Slipping", it's To Small for the Torque\Weight your dealing with. You need a Bigger Prop like the M445, and it Must be sharpened and balanced.

Well don't put to much time into reading engine Specs, Most are all Hype. The TC will handle rougher pond conditions, the SV27 will maneuver better. Personally I've never been real impressed with the quality of the aquacraft hulls in general, but all RTR Boats have their own list of issues. Honestly I wouldn't trash a boat just because the engine blew, if I was getting a RTR mono I would go more for the Shockwave 36. Size Does Matter.

It sounds like a lousy 2-1/2mm extra diameter on each blade but it's also multiplied by a factor of 1.4 or more depending on the prop so the larger the prop, the more pitch you're getting.
