You got a link for that engine ??: Novarossi .12 marine from Glenn Quarles

So like i said i draw lines where i will cut and modify the cowl to forward the engine bay and maybe i will broaden the bossed section ( of the cowl ) where the engine will sit.
There is also pictures of a slick hydro built with braces and full lengh railings, i want to make something like this..

Glenn is the U.S. importer at www.novarossi.us.

Contact him for prices. The website prices are normally higher than what he lets them go for. The last I knew the .12 was $185.

Ill have to hunt down a picture of the fin when i get to my computer, as for engines I shot HJ over a bunch of info to pass over to ya last night, going from my personal hands on the OS cvrm .18 box stock is the best for performance reliability and parts support you'll find, next in line to that is the CVR modified with water cooling (basically the same) there are a few EBAY engines to stay away from CY and vertex<spelling are two i can think of you dont want

The GO, K&B, dynamite and thundertiger 18's are all OK engines (out of that lot the TT 18 is super easy to get parts for and good support to), as for the above nova, ive never run one, in a 26" hull an .18 will be more than enough engine, you start over powering a hull you run into a whole new set of handling and set-up issues you may not have the experience to deal with which would make the project not very rewarding or fun for you (not saying it couldn't be done though) anyway you go just have fun doing it and dont try and make the boat fit someone elses idea of right and wrong!

Yeah i know that Cy and Vertex are not a good choice....

I already have two OS 18 cvr, one in my onroad car (with a 11j carb ) and the other in my offroad truck ( 11g carb ).
So i know well those engines, performance, dependability, ease to start, name it !!! You can't go wrong with OS !!
To be honest i'm a little bored to tuned those mills...
So i want something else...

The GO .18 seem to be a gr8 choice , performance, price ( its alot cheaper than other good mills )

Yeah your right ToyotaTruckin, i don't want to build this boat at the taste of other guys, but i'm a noob in rc boat and
during my life and career, i learn to take advantage of experienced guys....

I'm happy that Ron, Amax and HJ try to warn me... As i want to make this boat run well and be fun to drive...
So thats why ill go with a small block...

Ben

Hey nitro, another option for that .28 if you want some Real Speed and handling and want a Winter Project while your frozen in,, way up north there,, is one of the JAE .21 rigger kits from ZippKits.com.

That and the JAE kits are super cheap $$ and an amazingly nice kit for what you spend. Super easy to figure out, it and the instructions. My A.D.D. kicks in on me somtimes and I start to order a .21kit to build and I haven't got paint on the 12G I have now,,, But I have a 7port Go Pro .21 I'm just Diein to drop in one,,

Glenn did have the 3 port & 5 port .12 Nova Rossi .The 3 port is less $.He also sells his own.12 pipe. I think he is out of them,a winter job. His pipe is worth the wait. ASK .The Go's are a bargain. But the nova is very well built . I broke off the throttle arm of the Go first thing, plastic. I see more Nova's @ the races ,a proven winner. the biggest concern is your budget . get one of each you may need it,I f you build a rigger over the winter.

For now i think i will go with the GO mill, if i was building that JAE 12 rigger , ill gowith a Rossi...
My friend is racing in 1/8 buggys for at least 10 years now with a Rossi mill and he's a winner !!!

I want to know what is the differences between the side and the rear exhaust, since they sale those Go .18 in both configurations....
Its sure the side exhaust will be a nicer fit for the exhaust as i want to run the tuned pipe at the center of the hull...
What you guys think of it ?
How that side/back exhaust as effect of this famous distance between the plug to the widest part of the tuned pipe ???

I make my own motor mounts from 1\8" aluminum plate and Solid Mount it to Oak blocks epoxied to the floor.

or something a little fancier like I made for my JAE rigger

We clocked my .12 Nova Rossi 5 port Zippkit Rigger @ 51mph, today .I can still get a few more if I went leaner on my needle. I'm happy with 51 ,The hotter the engine got the faster she went. We all had a good day running .

Yep Ive done more solid mounts in small block boats than I have rubber mounted, there is a more solid set-up that way but it makes it a bit louder and vibrates a bit more, my JAE I went with the zippkits mounts, for the 10 or 12 bucks I spent on them it was easier than making them lol and they are decent mounts, almost a middle ground between rubber mounts and solid mounts!

For the engine supports, maybe i can modify a pair of .21 class supports ???

Like i said, the first step of my built wil be to modify the hull and the cowl mostly...
I will go with a scale look of a Gand-Prix class hydroplane.
I show you with what it came off my mind... My first choice is the second picture !!!

I'm confused with your last design picture. Are you refering to running the tuned pipe through the boat's bottom or just inside the cowl or under the deck? If you're looking at through the bottom, don't do it. The air pressure under the baot will cause enough back pressure to bog down the engine

HJ I believe he was refering to "Under the Deck" like I have Miss A set up.

Since the way he worded what he was looking at was slightly vague, I felt asking was the better way to go at that point. Better to ask and be wrong than not and be wrong

Nice Turn Fin Toyo !!! , i'm about to send you a PM cauz i'm interested to buy you one... L@@KING Nice !!!

Ok lets talk about that hull, today i got some spare time so i tape the guides for cutting. Maybe tomorow, i will cut the hull and begin to make the new cowl.

I did the winshield template out of tape. I will remove it in one piece, stick it to a cardboard then cut the shape.
The cockpit of the new cowl will be a bit larger in the center so maybe i will have to modify that window template, but it will be a gr8 thing to start with...
I got a spare OS 18 CVR that i put in there for fun

Yeah, i know, thats a bunch of tape !!!
