I need some help with the ENYA 60-4c 4 stroke . I just got two of them but they did not come with the Marine flywheel . I know they don't make them any more so will the OS 60 4 stoke flywheel work with the ENYA's ?? or Is there another kind of flywheel out there .. thanks for the help .:D

Don't know anyone running a four stroke in a boat, but I would think a two stroke flywheel would fit.

Any flyweel for .60 size engine will be Ok, Octura has a whole range with collet for any shaft size (some Enya have 1/4" shaft, other 7mm). Marine Enya never came with a flyweel, I have the feeling a steel flyweel would be best for 4-strokes. Dumas also had some but without collet (just a hole). Octura has no site but they take orders by Fax or phone:

You may be going down the wrong road with them engines. You may get some hits on the airplane forum. Go gas cheap and easy.

If you could provide the dimensions of the crankshaft it would be easier to recommend a flywheel. Looking forward to hearing more about your project. What type of boat are you planning to use your engine in?

I found a flywheel from O.S. that worked, that was some years ago but they might still have one.[img][/img]

I see your still in love with them engine's. They are nice lookin. Your header was my concerns, Getting on pipe.Show some vids when you get her going. You never said what kind of hull your trying to run, that's why I said you may be wrong. Looks like I'm wrong. nice job.

I always thought it would be cool to run a 4-stroke engine in a scale PT boat. The sound would be more realistic... Install a big fuel tank and you could run for hours...

well thanks all for the input .. I'm still going to need more :D I want to go scale on this project . the hull im going to use is a AMPS 54' formula 357 .. I saw a guy put two OS 4- stroke in a dumas scarab . i don't know how far he got with it ..

this is the othe one that a guy was building .. with two OS 4-stroke's on a dumas kit .. i will take down the dimensions of the crankshaft so you all can help me .. :D

I got mine tested this last summer, but never got it to a lake. It sure wont brake any speed records, but the sound... :)
I found this clip on YouTube, nice boat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZKbggpHEEY
I did run my engine on a test stand first, with a small electric pump just to see how it would work out with the water cooling.
First it couldn't run 2 minutes at idle before the tube on the exhaust melted, but with a little cooling you can now touch it while it´s running.

4 strokes are awesome.

What choices are there for engines if any at all ?

whats the best way to convert airplane engines to watercooling ?

I don't think there are any options new. You'll have to look on ebay.

As far as water cooling an airplane engine, the easiest way is to wrap the engine with soft brass tubing, but that is not the best way...

RE: enya 60-4c 4 stroke marine help

I used copper tubing with thermal compound used for computers.
The biggest problem is the exhaust, low restriction is a must or the temps go up quiet quickly.
My engine actually runs about 10-15c cooler now then whit a air-prop.

If I where to do another 4-stroke conversion I would use a Saito.
One less heat transfer that has do be done so they should respond even better to water cooling.

With the first engine break in rich run completed the 2nd test on a different weekend I leaned
up the NV some and put on a bigger prop went from a 2.6" total pitch 1st vid to a 3.42" total
pitch today. Very hot test day 106F ! Best peak on the bench to a solid 17,520 rpm but backed
off to play it safe just way too hot out all the same the engine did well with no water cooling.
Best pass was 14,534 rpm 43 mph. 4 strokes make a ton of torque I have just begun to tap into
the potential power still far off the right size prop. The engine cooled down after a few passes
average reading out of 14 rpm checks 13.86k the engine is about 4 to 5 clicks off from peak.
I should be able to launch safely at 16.5k rpm next vid with a 3.75" total pitch prop. ABC S-20
3ft rigger 18" stance / 3.14 lbs, 19% oil 45% nitro

SJN 08-01-2017 11:22 PM

Nice :-)

crapshooter 08-02-2017 02:21 PM

yes once Pond Skipper gets the right prop working on this rigger it will be a record holder for sure.

Is there any worry of valve float with these 4-strokes? I know the Enya 60-4C for airplane duty is rated for a max rpm of 12,000. I've never seen a parts list showing different cams or valve springs for them, so I'm intrigued a bit.

Pond Skipper 08-08-2017 11:17 PM

I did another few test runs with it last weekend the engine peaked to 17.4k rpm in the hand no spring or valve float issues yet.
The OS Alpha .56 has an integrated oil feed up through the cam, rods tubes, into the rocker box and out the exhaust.
Big plus for cooling and wear protection.

Here is a test hit the water was rough into the wind pass with radar to confirm speed. The plug was loose I forgot
to tighten it after start up. Did a follow up with a dynamite gps speed logger and the plug was tight gained 2mph to
44mph. End of testing with the ABC S-20 nice prop with some cup in it good thrust but the nominal pitch is too low.
Then tested a Octura 2250 but by then the water was too rough to get on the throttle but very promising.
With some calmer water could hit 50 ish.

O.S. Alpha .56 4 Stroke / 42 mph pass on radar

ABC S-20 / 1.6x55 rough water day had to take
it slow in the turns and on the back stretch.
Best pass with this prop not on vid is 44 mph same day.
