RE: X series Cat
nice looking hull the ASP 7.5 may leave you wanting more
|
RE: X series Cat
You wont need that much fuel Daz, I only run 8-12oz tanks in my 7.5 tunnels. You will love that smell of the nitro fuel in the air Daz!!
|
RE: X series Cat
Thanks bud
im thinking of building 2 more of these for my boys to have agao at racing with so i can put 10cc nitro in 1 me to play around with ORIGINAL: rcguy1411 nice looking hull the ASP 7.5 may leave you wanting more |
RE: X series Cat
Hey Dion
I need them tanks as the heats are 15 or 20 min long sometimes longer upto 30mins i had a couple of nitro cars but im going back yrs ago LOL but running them in boats is gonna be different and the engines will be better than the 1 i used to run hopefully ORIGINAL: F1TUNNEL You wont need that much fuel Daz, I only run 8-12oz tanks in my 7.5 tunnels. You will love that smell of the nitro fuel in the air Daz!! |
RE: X series Cat
Wow they are long heats, maybe you will need all of that fuel!! What sort of 10cc are you looking at?
cheers, dion. |
RE: X series Cat
ill probably stich with the ASP's reason being there the only 1s i can get all the spares for with in a day or 2 as weve got a stockist here not far from me
iv looked at others but they sell just the engines and not much spares wise etc I have looked and the CMB but im not prepared to spend mega money on a nitro engine when some1 in the club running ASP 7.5 and staying with them no probs |
RE: X series Cat
To answer a few nitro questions for you; I know that nitro is very expensive in the UK so check to see if the ASP's are made for low or high nitro as some manufacturers build their engines for both. I'd generally run around 45% but you may have to make do with less.
We measure the pipes almost the same way as gas engines except that we use the center of the engine (glow plug) instead of the exhaust flange as a measuring point and on a 7.5cc usually about 10-1/2" (whatever that is in metric I don't know). Generally, the ASP's suffer from having small sport carbs from planes so they really hurt performance. Yes, CMB's are very expensive even on this side of The Big Pond. Check into Nova Rossi's as the price is lower yet will keep up with the CMB's. |
RE: X series Cat
Hi ron
been doing some research and it seems 20% nitro is recomended Im not trying for any record speeds more consisitancy as iv decided once setup my 8yr boy will be racing it so should be fast enough for him while i build another 1 up with 10cc engine instead The problem im having is finding a supplier for marine nitro engines here in the UK with a good back up of spares the only 1 iv found is http://www.justengines.co.uk/index.html who retails the ASP engines at a reasonable price can you tune the nitro engines or buy bigger/better carbs ???? <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: X series Cat
Hi,
When you say class-A in what series is this? And how light is the boat. We run the Go .28 motor in our Proboat thundercats and they are way over powered for the m-style course we run. I might have to see if I can buy a hull from you as a 38" hull sounds more like the size I need. What width is the tunnel part? Cobus |
RE: X series Cat
HI Cobus long time no speak
Class A is with the BMPRS http://www.bmprs.co.uk/rules2012.html#boatspec<div>Once moulded the 1st ll know a weight of the hull and let you know ill have to measure the tunnel width as iv not got it too hand and cant remember of the top off my head haha Hope your well bud Rgds F1</div> |
RE: X series Cat
Hi guys slight change of plan Iv just ordered new 10cc ASP engine for this cat so will now be entered in the B class

RE: X series Cat
You had better asked me ... good as new CMB-Evo_20** for 120€ .

RE: X series Cat
<div>Just been playing around it</div><div>theres alot of ways this hull can be run</div><div>I placed in 7.5cc nitro engine but could even fit a 10cc </div><div>24oz fuel tank fits in the sponsons nicely aswell </div><div>http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSC02131.jpg</div><div>http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSC02132.jpg</div><div>couple of it floating LOL</div><div>http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSC02130.jpg</div><div>http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSC02129.jpg</div><div>

RE: X series Cat
Nice looking. What is the tunnel width? Looks narrow.
Cobus |
RE: X series Cat
Cheers Cobus<div>Sorry bud forgot you asked about the tunnel width
the width is 160mm or just over 6 1/4 " should be perfect for the length hull and the depth of the tunnel</div> |
RE: X series Cat
Well Done Daz thats a great job , Keep up the good work ;)
|
RE: X series Cat
Thanks MP<div>im still going at it dont intend to retire yet LOL</div>
|
RE: X series Cat
Im sory Daz but you def need a bigger pond :D:D,looks good bud. Were putting together a cat with the K&B should fly hehe.
Mart |
RE: X series Cat
LOL cheers mart
could do tethered cat hahaha cool youll have to post some pics up when you done it<div> </div> |
RE: X series Cat
160mm is tight. That is only 10mm wider than a thundercat and it turns like a pig unless you run a huge rudder like I used too. My 7.5cc F1 is 36" long and 200mm tunnel width and that is just enough. An avenger has a 225mm tunnel width. Take an avenger which turns on a dime when setup right.
Avenger (44") 1118 x tunnel 225 = 4.96-1 TC31 (31") 787 x tunnel 150 = 5.25 - 1 Your cat (38") 965 x tunnel 160 = 6.03 - 1 Just some observation. Cobus |
RE: X series Cat
appreciate it bud
but will soon see how it does once on the water that will be the best test but as you know its not just tunnel width that affects the way a hull handles im confident in the design and sure she will prove to be a solid performer Iv even got some FE components so could throw that in as a tester and will push the hull further and harder than any nitro setup<div>main thing is need to mould the hatch and a fully laid up hull and get busy setting it up;) </div> |
RE: X series Cat
Well done bud<div>
</div><div>Looks like all my good advice worked a treat.</div><div>Now stop >>>ing around and get the tunnel built, I expect us to be racing come the 2nd so crack on.</div> |
RE: X series Cat
PMSL <div>Thanks bud
Im actually working on the tunnel as we speak just having a break after getting hacked off with it we'll be racing if i can get it sorted in time :)</div><div>oh by the way welcome to the forum haha</div> |
