Yes, I'm home. You won't want to stay long though as Karl and I were home today with a stomach bug. It's been going around. Most of the Bloomfield Mapstones got it as well. You need two, correct?

Roger and Rick, I to am interested in Neil's 1/8 scale hydro. After seeing bdog1's run I am hooked on that style boat, I have a line on an engine as well. Being new to the boating hobby that style boat really catches my interest. Thanks
You can still get a kit and build one. Dumas made the Atlas Van Lines Miller America ,Circus Circus ,like so http://www.dumasproducts.com/product...roducts_id=249
Or http://www.blazermarine.com/index.ph...uct_detail&p=3
or http://www.ml-boatworks.com/Page.asp...-boatworks.com
I may have misses one or 2 sites. Dumas has the worst plywood to work with. The blaze hull has many pieces the other I know nothing about.
The Price of the Dumas Hull jumped right out at me,the hull cost $225 long ago.
Actually, the only scale boat Dumas still sells is the Circus Circus and that costs over $300 from Dumas. If someone really wants to build a wood scale boat, my first choise would be to order plans from Newton Marine and pick up some aircraft plywood from the local hobby shop or reputable online source, a cowl from R/C Boat Co or other manufacturer of similar quality and start making sawdust

I went over to my local RC boat kit maker and picked up plywood voids. HJ the ply has some patches or slight mar. I got many thicknesses very cheap. I like working with the plywood. Tough and strong. Hobby Lobby ply is good also. I have never seen a ML hull. They refer to the Newton plans. I like CNC cut out plans nowadays

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters

Nothing wrong with that, Neil. I just prefer to build from plans so I can make changes as I want rather than having to redo a lot of the wood parts paid for in a premade kit.
Rick, I did tell you I pop in here every so often:D

Carbon/kevlar twin rigger. You can see why safety is so important.

Yes, safety rules are very important for clubs to follow, especially the safety of any non-IMPBA members that happen to be near the pond. These people don't usually understand the dangers of RC boats....

I have crashed my Zippkit riggers worse with little to no damage. Wood can be very strong if built properly.

Nice video Bill, thanks for sharing. Twin 80's seem to be a good way to go with twin nitro's. A little less expense and just as fast as the .91's and 1.01's.

The driver was tweaking his radio and took his eyes off the boat for a split second and you can see what happened. Years back at Brick pond a twin was too close to shore on the front straight. He hit the port launch dock and virtually disintegrated the boat. Even with the fencing there, it was spooky if parts start to go up in the air. The pond was definitely too small especially for testing fast rides.

I for one I would not like to be in the path of that one, holy that thing is fast you sure need lot's of room for them
but sure fun to watch.

Lynn, my JAE 45 is still on the bench half done. Knowing Rick, yours will be done before mine. :) Not sure if Joe has a mount for the JAE45 yet, but here is what I did. This is how many rigger mounts are made. The aluminum is tapped 1/4" x 1/2" flat stock and the nylon spacers and grommets are availble at hardware stores or McMasters. I had to buy a long length of the aluminum, so you are welcome to a couple pieces if you decide to do it this way.

I'm not sure yet what strut and rudder I will use. The Zippkit hardware is excellent hardware, but if you need something that Joe does not have Speedmaster is a good option. www.rossisales.com

Correct. No hardware yet. Not able to find anything we like at a good value.
I am designing some 45 hardware now, but we won't see anything until spring...

We do stock a 7075 fin for it though (out of stock at the moment).

Unless this current rain makes a difference, Bristol Mountain is your best option. I'll take a look at Stony Pond tomorrow morning.
