RCGF 20cc Gasser
Just changed from a Magnum .91 4 stroke to an RCGF 20cc Gasser. This is in an Extra 300 60 size. 63" wing plane. Fired it up last night and this thing really seems to pull hard. I am running a 15-8 prop and it seems as though it will climb straight up with not problem. I have not flown it yet, just ran two 14oz tanks of fuel through it on the ground. Thing seems mean!!! Anyone flown a similar plane with this engine?? Any feed back would be appriciated!!

I'm interested in one too. Several threads on that engine out there and as long as you take care of a few things initially it seems like folks are having good results with it. I'm curious how much weight it added over the Magnum???

RE: RCGF 20cc Gasser
I had a Magnum 90 four-stroke in a Great Planes 1/4 scale RV4 and swapped the engine for a RCGF 20cc and love it. The engine seems to put out a bit more power than the Magnum did and I didn't have to ad any weight...only shifted around the components a bit. I am using a 16x8 Master Airscrew prop and it matches the engine and plane very well. I am not the type that needs to squeeze out every drop of power from the engine to be happy. The vertical seems much better. I am sure you will love the change...and the cheep fuel costs also!

RE: RCGF 20cc Gasser
I'm am pretty sure his motor weighs a bit more than the magnum did, but I had to add weight to the front to get the CG right and now I was able to take that weight out so I think it's pretty close to a wash on the weight for my setup. From just running on the ground it seems as though this motor is pulling harder than the magnum did?

On a 20CC? Why bother? The gas engine is not going to put more of a load on the servos nor cause problems due to vibration.
Heck I'm flying 50CC gassers ( Edges, etc. ) with 130oz/in cheapie analog servos ( $7.00-9.00/ea )and I've never had one fail over hundreds used.
Metal servos tend to wear faster too, until you get into the more exotic range, such as titanium gear servos...
Those I reserve for the bigger planes.
