I am looking for advice on a tough nose gear to put on a 40 size model. I have a tail dragger in the works which is a better solution but right now the house is under construction so no building for a while. The runway has been taking a beating from trucks delivering material so we won't do any work on it until the house is done. Landings sometimes involve hitting rocks up to 2 inches in diameter and bent nose gear is common. Anyone have any recommendations for a tougher unit I could install?

I second the Fults gear. I use them for the same conditions. They work well and I believe Tower still stocks them....

Anchor the linkage in shorter intervals, avoiding buckling under sudden compression stresses.

Yes! That is in the back of my mind as we do have land where I could put in a 210 foot by 60 foot pond right in front of the runway. That will have to wait for funds though!

Grosbeak.. Thanks for that photo. Turns out I just bought one that is very similar to that.... probably a Chinese copy as it is not a Sullivan product. Haven't had time to put it on yet but need to do it so I can shoot some more aerial video.

Bigger wheels will do you more good than changing the nose gear wire.

Ain't that the truth! We have had about 70 dump trucks and 4 cement trucks down the runway so it is packed hard and all the stones on the traveled portion are pushed down. So..... rather than larger wheels I now have smaller stones! Can't fly though due to building materials in the way and just being too busy planning and supervising.
