Default Who makes this Super Decathlon???

I bought a Sig 4 star from a guy and he threw this in too.
Its just the fuselage- no wing or cowl
came with it.
Id like to find out what company made it.
I want to build or find a wing for it.
it seems to be an ARF. The frame is wood covered with printed thin foam as well as the tail feathers.
The bottom of the front half of the fuse is plastic.
It has an OS 61 on it!
Any info would be great.

from the description I'd say it's an old Sports Aviation EZ ARF

Many years ago Hobby Shack had a line of planes called E-Z (perhaps EZ?), which were constructed like that.
I had the Diablo which flew very well and was quite robust.

A little bit later, Indy R/C had a line called Lion which was virtually identical in construction.

Things like the foam laminate covering, plastic tail fairing and plastic wing tip edges are the clues for the identity.

The coloring was not printed on the foam. It was a plastic laminated to it.

Vintage was about mid 1980's. Getting parts for either of those would be quite unlikely now. Not saying impossible - have seen one or two on ebay from time to time. Just not readily available.

Default Overweight!

I have done some research and this IS an EZ.
It calls for a .46 engine but I don't think that would be enough power for this plane because the fuselage is very heavy! Even with the OS 61 mounted far toward someone also added 3-3/4 oz of led to the firewall.
I found a foam wing that fits pretty good and when I balanced it at the recommended location it still came out tail heavy so I deceided to do some investigating. I pealed off the foam on the stab and found out why-it is solid light ply! If I stick to this project I will make new tail feathers out of Balsa- I'm just not sure if it is worth all of that extra work since I don't have the proper wing. The original wing is thinner and longer (60") than the one I have.
i have not found any info from people on how this plane flys-only pictures.
i may part It out as it has an OS 61 and Hitek servos and receiver.

Personally, as much as I love the Decathlon I wouldn't bother. It just seems like a whole lot of trouble, only to wind up with a (excuse me) flying pig. Some years ago, I had a Decathlon I built from a Great Planes kit. I was really fun to build and a blast to fly. Unfortunately, it is no longer available. The bigger Dynaflite kit is still available, although it's quite a bit larger.
I think Seagull Models has ARF's in a couple of sizes. I don't know much about them. Keep that O.S. 61 though. That's a real find. Do you know which one it is?

Default Os 61

The engine is an OS 61 SF. Good compression, runs well.

Nice! Are you going to build something for it? Or are you going to put it in an ARF?

I don't buy ARF, I love to build or buy used planes.
I have a 60-size P-40 that needs an engine so that's where it will go.
I have to other OS 61's waiting on airplanes as well.

Excellent! Is that a Super Sportster 60 I see? I've built and flown two of those! Love it!
