Turnagy sk3 5055-430
6s1p 5000
Dlux 70amp speed control

Vertical is unlimited
Speed is the same
Landings are better, bleed speed easier

I know this thread is old, but it's nice to see so many people who agree about the Ultra Sport's amazing flying characteristics. Mine was actually given to me. A blessing, as I was new to the hobby and knew nothing of how great of a model it was. I lost my first model to a crash (exceeded its structural limits in flight) and my club took sympathy on me and gave me a plane that had been donated to them earlier, the Ultra Sport 60 below. Sadly this is the only decent picture I have of it at the moment. It's not as obvious from the photo, but it needs recovering. I'll come back with a provisional scheme or two tomorrow.

Here's a TBT pic.. my original Ultrasport, with modified (blended) Vertical Fin (theoretically for better knife edge.... didn't work ) Flaps and (taildragger) retracts.
pic was taken at West Point, NY .. my Brother Mikey (Minnflyer) is fueling it up in this photo... at the time, he worked in the machine shop at Stewart ANGB, and I was a Flight Engineer at the same base.
man, I LOVED that airplane

Howdy all US lovers, here is my US.60 with a ST.90 engine just finished and waiting for its maiden flight. If all goes well I plan two modifications for next season:
1) modify aft part of wing saddle..if.......!
2) smaller wheels to fit into wheel wells

I will start with a 14 x 5 prop and BIG WHEELS to get good acceleration from our rather soft grass field. Retracts will have to wait until I know her habits. Will keep you posted after maiden flight.....hold your thumbs..!!

I wish I could show you pictures of my US 60 that I bashed into a twin using two OS .40 FX's spinning 9x8 prop on 20% nitro. It had mechanical retracts; it was FAST and flew great.
I lost it when I had a false peak detection on my charger. Thinking it was fully charged, I lost it several minutes into its final flight. I have owned 3 US 60s in the past 12 years and each of them has met an untimely event early in their lives. The last one and final US 60 that I'll ever own lost its elevator during some spirited flying. I have an Ultra Sport curse! Never again.

And today I find your post......some coincidence..!!! Please Homebrewer If you have any pics whatsoever from your US Twin, please let us see them..Thanks.!

While technically not an Ultra Sport, this Twin that I scratch built was based off the Ultra Sport 60 wing plan. I have never flown a genuine US but if it flys anything like this twin, then I wont be disappointed. This twin (US 60 size with 4" added to each wing tip) is powered by two 36 ASP engines. One engine is enough to fly around with at 3/4 throttle, as I found out when getting all the gremlins out of the airplane on the first few flights. I had to move the cockpit back a ways from the US60 position to make it look a little better in my eyes.
I have a genuine Ultra Sport on the table right now getting built and will show it off by spring. I will leave this cockpit alone just to have a little diversity in my fleet.

Howdy dear ”UltraSporters”, this thread has been idle too for long now. About time for updates.! Here is my update: Fitted a pipe and temporarily covered the wheel wells as you see. My favourite prop is still 14 x 6 (10.600 rpm static) which necessitates the longer legs that will not fit the wells. With this combo I have unlimited vertical which is kinda fun when the plane becomes a small speck in the sky. The decent is a bit scary since I will not hear the engine and I must avoid tearing it all up with a too steep nose dive. At full speed on the pipe I can hear a bit of flutter at level flight which will be addressed soon. Today I was practising spoileron landings which works better for me than flaperon landnings.Have bought a three bladed 14x7 prop which must be “clipped” a bit to facilitate shorter retract legs and a suitable rpm to avoid plane speed getting excessive. That´s it for now…how are you doing with your UltraSports..?? Please keep us posted..! Thank You.!

Do these kits have any value? I have a new in box 40 and 60. extra wing kit for the 60. KITS not ARF's!!! I am not sure if I want to hang onto them. Will I ever build them? Seems like everyone is just buying ARF's these days, quality of them has gone up and less time to get in the air.

Ultra Sport 1000 kits have been going for high prices. You could try to sell them at an RC flea market. I am sure someone will respond with reasonable asking price
good luck

This is my plans built and modified Ultra Sport. The plans were reduced to 90% from US 1000 plans. It is electric powered on 8S Lipos and one of the sweetest flying airplanes I've had.
