RE: Sig 4 Star vs GP Super Sportster
Well guys it looks like I have a decision! Its going to be the 4 Star.
Reasons:
I may or may not be able to even find an SS kit since it is discontinued.
I am still training and feel it will be safer to fly and land.
A guy in the club that started when I did just bought an SS. He's a good pilot, maybe a bit better than me. He tip stalled the SS after a week and destroyed it. Doesn't mean a lot but but it means something.
I have seen the 4 Star fly and it looks plenty fast and aerobatic for me!
Now I need help with colors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I have some leftover yellow so I was thinking metal purple with yellow accents) No more red/white/yellow planes for a while.

Congrats on the Four Star! There wasn't a bad choice between the two, and it sounds like you're comfortable and happy with your choice. You will love how the Four Star flies, I have no doubt.
Post pictures and show us how your new Four Star turns out.

For color and covering pattern inspiration, you might want to pick up a copy of the Top Flight Monokote trim scheme poster. I have one hanging in my building room that I use to get ideas for new covering patterns. They are available from Tower, but I'm sure your LHS can order you up one too.

Or you might just try doing a Google Image search for Sig 4 Star and see what comes up. I did that earlier today and it came up with lot of very well done birds. Certainly beats all the cookie cutter ARF's out there.

There are also a lot of thing you can do to the 4* to make it a better looking plane, you could add sopme rounded wing tips, re shape the canopy in to a "Super Sportster" style canopy or just make a windscreen and even flying wires just cause they look cool you can make it look at like a Super Sportster, or even a Space Walker with very little work.

I love super sportsters!!!!
Makes one wonder why GP would discontinue such
a popular plane. As well as the Ultra Sports.
By the way...nice looking Sportsters.

I was just going through old threads and saw Hamman has the SS60 I built years ago! I see you removed the wing mounted landing gear and mounted it on the fuse and put a Saito in her. I wish I had never sold that plane, it was a nice flyer. Is she still flying??
