I am building an Ultra Sport 40 now with Dave Brown retracts and would love to see how you set up the servos for the ailerons and retracts. I am guessing you have 2 servos hooked to the torque rods for the ailerons rather than putting them in the wing - otherwise you could not do flaperons. Any pictures you have of the set up would be helpful.

Just wondering if I put my MVVS 45 with a tuned pipe on my old US40.....should be fast!! huh I loved flying mine until I had engine problems. I even rebuilt the fuse after a battery failure.
BTW..build up the landing gear blocks as they tend to break out of the wing.

I put a Super Tigre G51 in my Ultra Sport 40, and it kicks. Very fast, super fun plane to fly .... Greg

I love my UltraSport 1000 (I've love all the US's). It has a Saito 1.5GK and air retracts. I also customized the tail feathers (larger control surfaces) for better handling. Lots of fun to fly.

How is the Super tiger vs. the OS? I am torn between a ST 51 and an OS 55 that just came out. I know people have commented about the Super Tiger being a hard engine to tune but I have 2 planes I need to buy engines and flight packs for and don't have the cash to be loyal to OS. I have some OS and Thunder Tiger 40 size motors and they are both great but when I need both a 40 and 90 size it is hard to justify the cost.

Generalizing like crazy here, but in the two stroke area, OS is the best and Super Tiger is the worst. That pretty much explains the difference in price. In between those extremes, you will find Thunder Tiger (very good, very consistant) and all of the Chinese engines (GMS, ASP, Evolution, Magnum, etc.) (usually good, but you occasionally get a bad one).

Now, un-generalizing a bit, the OS 91FX is not one of their best, but the Thunder Tiger 91 two stroke is well thought of. If I were looking for a 40 size two stroke and a 90 size two stroke, I would go with an OS 46/55 and a TT 91. If I wanted more power and the airplane could stand the extra weight, I would probably go with a GMS 1.20 for the bigger one.

back in the mid 90's when i got this 40 ARF i put a .36 Heli engine and Heli pipe on it, it didn't have 'out of the hole' power but clocked 97 with gear up. i put a .90 4 banger on it and kept the speed and added a ton of power with vertical acceleration, now it's got a Jett 90 LX on it (had to mount it upright, that's the only way i could clear the pipe), it'll easily break 100 mph in a vertical climb.

Just thought I would chim in. My US60 weights 6.75# and has been gunned at 94mph with a Good Super Tigre S-61K. It is turningan APC 12x9 turning 10k and at 91db. This airplane is one of the first US kits they made, with over 140hr of flight time. The engine is a round head Super Tigre, who knows what decade that makes the engine. I don't have any pic's of mine, something about holding the camera and flying!? but hear is the son's
