Default funtana x 50 question

Hi,
i am at the phase of mounting my O.S. .46 AX engine on my HANGAR 9 FUNTANA X 50.
i noticed that the muffler touches the slanted part under the firewall. CAN I CUT A HOLE IN THIS PART????!!!!! I noticed that it is balsa.

I am also going to install a DUBRO landing gear. it ha four mounting holes which are wider than the actual base plate on the fuselage.
can i put some extra plywood to expand the gear mounting plate?????

Thanks

G'day Mate.
You can buy a small extension, from OS, it moves the muffler further away from the motor, that should cure your problem, without any cutting.
I had to put one on a Sportsman Aviation, Mad dog, to allow more right thrust, works good, & cheap too.

It doesn't hurt! Mine was fine, but if I don't, the tank will leak or I'll drop it on its nose....
