http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKH28&P=ML
This motor
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUR77&P=7
i like this motor cuz ( sorry to say ) its the cheapest darn thing in its power range for the plane.. even though they recomend max of .55
the only .55 i can find at best is $150 this motor is bearly $90
what doyou guys think?

RE: what do you guys think about this combination
I fall into the camp that power is a good thing and a lot of power is a really good thing. (to a point) Seriously, I'm sure it'll work as long as you can get it to fit, and get it to balance and get the prop to clear the ground. I really don't know that much about this aircraft to tell you specifically if it'll work.

This particular airframe gets mixed reviews here at RC Universe:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...cfm?kit_id=231
The engine you're considering also has some mixed reviews:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...?engine_id=445
Why not consider:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLGM8&P=0
combined with:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFV72&P=0
The Super Tigre G-51 is powerful, it is also much lighter than the Tower Hobbies .61. It will balance better in either airframe, be almost as powerful, has a better warranty, and is higher rated. The money you save ($20) offsets the cost of the slightly more expensive Phoenix Dolphin airframe, which will fly better and be easier to assemble than the U.S. Aircore Colt kit that you're considering.
If you want a really good combination and don't mind shopping somewhere besides Tower Hobbies (which is an excellent company), you could also consider the $59.99 SK KE50 2-stroke motor and the $69.99 World Models Sky Raider Mach II .40 ARF:
http://www.kangkeusa.com/skengines.htm
http://ecsvr.com/abm/shopexd.asp?id=1958
For about $129.98 plus shipping and handling, you'd have a very highly rated low wing sport plane and a powerful, reliable engine.
That's what's fun about this hobby, so many choices!

I won't start a debate over the engine- I was just pointing out that you can buy the same engine for 10 dollars less.

(FYI, GMS used to be distributed, with the high performance muffler, by K&B. At that point, the Tower and GMS engines were exactly the same, but when Tower took over the distribution of the GMS engines, they detuned them with a more restrictive muffler so that the Tower engine would be the better performer.)
If you are planning on using a pitts muffler, go with the GMS. If you are going to stay with the stock muffler, go with the Tower.

Well, I'll be darned. They changed them. They don't look like the same engine as the Tower engines anymore either.
Forget what I said. That is ancient history. I guess someone will have to try the new GMSs and see if they are any good.
