RE: O.S.55AX whos got what with what?
I already have two planes with the OS .55AX. The first is a Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 40 and the second is a kit built Rookie look-a-like called an SR-41. Both engines are nearly a year old and have run flawlessly since day one. Today I purchased another .55AX for the new Great Planes Revolver which recommends a .55 two-stroke at the top of its range.

I think you'll find those props too small. At the very least you won't get anywhere near the speed a 12x7 will yield. Some guys in my club tried 11x6 and smaller, none of them liked it. You'll be at 14000rpm on the ground and then run out of revs in the air, not good for an engine.
Of course, if you're into hovering etc then use whatever works....I don't pretend to be an expert on that stuff.

UPS says my GP Revolver will be arriving today. Have a 55AX to stick in the nose and a few 12X6 and 12X8 props to experiment with. With the provided 3.25" spinner, [sm=omg_smile.gif] you might want to reconsider the thought of using a 11" prop. Just my .02 worth..

Nice planes 150flyer. It looks like your SR-41 has a Tower Hobbies muffler on it. How does the 55 like it, and it is much different than the stock muffler?

I've got a .55 on a Showtime 50. I've tried a 12x6 and a 13x4. Both props work fine. The 13by is better for 3D stuff. I couldn't get the stock muffler to fit so I slapped on a Bisson pitts muffler.

Here she is! Love those SFG's.[8D] I've tried 2 fuels w/ the .55 (Omega 15% and Wildcat 15%.) The midrange sucks with the Omega. I'm guessing it's the castor oil?? Stick w/ Wildcat, runs great!

Coool!
Still havent put the 55AX in anything yet. Was going to put it into a TM Pro 260P but went for the 46AX for weight.
Still considering a GP Revolver.

JUST RECEIVED MY 55 AX GOING INTO A LANCAIR 360 TO REPLACE THE 46 VMAX THAT JUST DID NOT GIVE THE SPEED I NEEDED.
THINKING OF A 11/7 APC.WHAT YOU GUYS THINK?
HOPE THERE IS A BIG POWER AND SPEED IMPROVEMENT OVER THE 46 VMAX.

We've got one and its a fantastic plane. Our plane has a OS FS70 4 stroke in it but I wonder if it would go better with the 55AX in it?

RE: O.S.55AX whos got what with what?
Sometimes the 55 AX works well, and sometimes is doesn't. Regardless of the fuel, I've got mine mounted in my reactor at an angle and it acts up at midrange. Some fuels tolerate it better, but is a fueling mixture issue - I'm convinced. I don't know if it's the fuel tank placement on the plane with the angled engine that's causing the problem, but I've seen it 3 times already on 3 different airplanes. An OS A3 plug seems to help and removing the exhaust baffle seems to hurt. I'm thinking that for some reason, flow through the engine at the midrange is exessive and the engine pulls more F/A than it should in the midrange- maybe it's a porting issue?? Should I change the port shape on my engine? Hmmmm...... Definitely worth a try! I'm sick of dead-sticking my airplane!!!
