Default O.S.70 Surpass whos got what with what?

I started the thread on the 55AX and many thanks to all that replied!

I now need to find a home for an OS 70 Surpass 4 stroke.

I was thinking a Funtana 50?

Flying style: Aerobatics, 3D!

Got a 70 Ultimate(blue rocker cover) that I was going to drop into a Kyosho Hein but the callout on prop size is 13x6 or 7 only. The Hein is a 46 2 stroke plane at 55'.

My OS 70 is in a Sig Astrohog. Not 3D but, very aerobatic. Both 10 years old and still going strong. Joe

I have been impressed with the OS 70 in a Sig Astrohog. It is not 3D, but it is a great match for the airframe and powerplant.

I have one in a Pulse XT 40 with a 14-7 APC prop on it........Everyone's impressed with the performance of the plane, and it has virtually unlimited vertical.....Love it!

The GP UCD .46 flies very well with the .91 Surpass, I don't know about the .70 though.

Did you have to add weight to the tail, how was the CG?

I saw a guy fly a Sig Something Extra (I believe the ARF) with an OS 70. He could hover all day long.

The OS 70 surpass is perfect with the ucando 46. It flies well with a 13x6 prop, but I think it does a little better with a 14x4.

Yeah I hear the UCD is good with an OS70 but some have said on this and other forum sites its underpowered for that plane.

I guess some You Tube video will tell the truth )

Seems like its more suited to scale planes rather than aerobats and 3D planes.

I gather its because of the weight?

I had my 70 in an Excelleron 50 and it flew well (still does but even better with a OS Alpha 81) but did lack a bit of punch.

Great Planes P51 D with a 14 - 7 is a stellar combination!

Lots of power and totally reliable - not going to do any 3d flying - but P51s never did.

I've got one in a Contender 60 with a 13 X 8 APC. Won't hover, you have to fly the wings and not the prop, but is a ripper on a straight-away. Great engine (and great sport model). Had one in a GP Big Stik that I lost in a mid-air and it was just a wingless red comet of a lawn dart when it hit a rock. I gathered up the PIECES of the FS-70 and sent them to Champaign, IL and, by gum, they sold me a new one at their cost ($134). I was tickled at that.

"LAF" was not an accident, by the way. "Don't take life too serious - it ain't no how perminant" - Walt Kelly.

I've got one in a Hangar 9 Twist 40 , spinning a 13x4W APC . Great combination for this airframe . Hovers no problem , and will pull to the moon .

How did the CG work out? Any lead needed in the tail?

Thanks

Ditto on the Twist.

Mine balanced just right with no lead. It is however a snug fit between the supplied motor mounts, which requires a little modifying with a Dremal tool.
