Default US 60 maiden , It,s a keeper !

Maiden my US .60 yesterday . I installed a old Italain ST .90 that I had rebuilt with new bearings, liner and ring . Had about a 1/2 gallon of fuel thru it on the test stand. First flight took, off at 1/2 throttle after climb out ,added 2/3 throttle and it started stubbling and flamed out . Ut Oh ! Brought it around ,cleared the corn and made a decent landing . Whew !
The second flight , I had done a little tweaking and the ST seemed to be much better . Took off 1/2 throttle , climb out , 2/3 throttle and another flame out . This time I ran out of elevator before I ranout of corn and set it down in the last 6 rows of corn , just before the runway . Dang ! Made a BIG noise when it went in. I,m walking out to get it thinking about all the time I have in that build and cussing myself for not tweaking the engine better. To my total amazement, The leading edge had a smallbump in it and a small hole in the covering . The planes gods smiled on me today.
I thought , heck with this, I,m putting this plane up for now and flew the Twist for several flights. Gave me a little break and some time to think about my engine problems .
Drug the US .60 out and put it on the runup stand. Ended up richening the LS agood bit and leaning the HS a good bit also. Probably took me an hour to slowly get it tweaked but I could tell a huge difference in the way it sounded and pulled.
3rd flight the ST.90 ran like a champ ,got to trim it out and get a feel for it, Found out that low rates are way to low for me and high rates need to be higher at lest the alierons .Brought it in for a very nice landing . Engine running good , justa little rich.
4th flight I went over the plane ,checked it out reallygood and a coujple clicks leans on the HS. Took offnice and smooth , decidedto open her up a little and see what the big fuss everyone was making about this airplane. Threw it into a KE and flew circuits as easy as level flight , WOW ! Inverted was a breezeand all the basics were smooth .
While I was up ,2other club members were doing high speed formatiion flying .Hanger 9 Spitfire,s with OS 91 surpass.I dropped down with them . It flys so smooth , it was easy to fly with them ,only problem was they could,nt keep up. lol
This is one heck of an airplane , I now know why everyone that owns one , love it. Think I,ll build a 40 size also . Thanks for letting me share and I,ll post some pics latter.

LOL!!

I figured that was the US you meant when you talked about great knife edge ... the Ultra Stick stinks at it.
