I wonder if the Hobby Hanger & Clubhouse shouldn't be combined into one forum? Yes no maybe?

Well, consider this before we make the move which I'm not saying does not make sense but I want to bring this point up. The Hangar Hangout is for general RC discussions for fliers. The clubhouse is for any and all general discussions, fliers or not. Now, do we just leave the clubhouse up for all general rc stuff and not have a seperate one for fliers? I know the flying hangout will likely be very popular vs. the cars and boats (???) but how do you all think this should be handled?

Seems like we're getting into semantics. If there are specific forums for every topic possible, I get lost and have no idea where to post anymore. Been to RCO lately... hokey toads!

Limit the forums to general topics, the list stays short, and simple minds like mine know where to post. Ok, I'll shut up now and wait to read other replies.

How about:

"Clubhouse Hangout"

General RC discussion area or if it just doesn't fit anywhere else!

More feedback on this...anyone? It's your forums so we will make them the way YOU want it ( in some quasi-democratic way of course) !

I agree with keeping the forum list smaller and more general to make sure we know where to post and so that the posts in each forum have a reasonable volume.

I still think we should combine the two general forums.

I can see what you are getting at with these two forums though.

The 'Hangar Hangout' is for discussions about planes and 'The Clubhouse' is for general disucssion. Maybe we should rename 'The Clubhouse' to something like 'Speakers Corner' to make it more distinct.

Any thoughts?

This other one is partly my fault, but it seems like 'Workshop' and 'Tips and Techniques' may be able to be combined.

I think that the 'Workshop' encompasses 'Tips and Techniques' but not vice versa.

Therefore I am thinking it might be a good idea to fold 'Tips and Techniques' in the 'workshop' forum.

Any thoughts?

How about this one:

Category as: Workshop Talk - Tips & Techniques
Discuss your tips and techniques with other RC fanatics. Also general workshop Q&A discussion.

Well I did like it too but now I don't want to limit the tips & techniques to just workshop ones which that might sound like. There could be tips on the field or track that people want to share and not just "workshop" tips so clumping with workshop may be limiting. Maybe it is best to keep them seperate although there probably could be some overlap as you say since a tip or technique could be used in the workshop and a workshop item could go into the workshop forum or tip forum. Problem is when the tip isn't really a workshop tip.

Not sure how to handle this one yet the best way. In the end our search function will find whatever the heck your specifically looking for so that is a failsafe one can use.

Here is what I came up with and what I did....I moved the workshop stuff into tips & techniques and changed the text under it to cover workshop and field tips. This should be an appropriate place to discuss workshop tips and building issues. It will be easier to change the category description to make it even more clear if it becomes necessary.
