engine dies at full throttle
The idle is ok, but dies abruptley at anything past half throttle. I have adjusted card per web site instructions, changed glow plug, tries the fuel and tank on the stand with another engine, did a compression test by spritsing with soapy water and blowing air into the card to check for leaks. I don't know what else there is to check. Any suggections?

RE: engine dies at full throttle
You really need to give some more details if you expect any kind of help. For starters it would be helpful to know which engine you are talking about and then we can go from there. There are lots of reasons for an engine to suddenly quit at full throttle and one of the main culprits is the high end needle being set way too lean. Or you may be getting foaming in the fuel tank and that could do it. Perhaps there is insufficient fuel delivery at full throttle. Bad fuel can also cause this. How is the engine mounted on the plane?? What is the location of the fuel tank in relation to the carb?? Give some details!!

RE: engine dies at full throttle
The engine is a G51 2 stroke, the high speed needle valve setting, along with carb tuning including idle screw and spray bar has been tried per factory web site instructions. I did an air leak test with a soapy water solution and found nothing. The engine is on a test stand and I have run another engine on the stand using the same fuel, filter, and tank. I have changed the glow plug with a new OS #8 and the plug appears to light up just fine, like I said it starts ok.....

RE: engine dies at full throttle
If your engine dies when the throttle is moved, then the carburetor is flat-out not properly-adjusted and/or the engine hasn't had enough full-throttle running at a rich setting to get it broken-in. The SuperTigre G-51 is an extremely-reliable engine that is quite popular.
Here's how the carb should be adjusted: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1579985/tm.htm
For breakin, you want to start out with the engine at full throttle and very, very rich. Over the first hour's worth of running, you want to keep it at full throttle and gradually lean the engine towards peak RPM, with intervals of rich running every 2-3 minutes. Run it rich/lean/rich/lean and so on, but gradually work the engine leaner towards peak RPM. When the engine can sustain full-throttle running at just rich of peak RPM and not change RPM, then you're ready to retard the throttle and work on getting the idle mixture set.
The best fuel to use would be a 5%-10% nitro with at least 18% oil that is a castor/synthetic blend. The more castor the better. 0% nitro will also work out very well.

RE: engine dies at full throttle
I have run alot of fuel through this same engine years ago and it was always totally reliable and had tons of power. Yes the engine is broken in..... Is it possible I have a new #8 OS glow plug that appears to light up fine and yet it not the proper heat? I know it should be a very simple process of elimination. Never had this problem with this same engine before it always ran like a champ.
