Default HK 450 pro question/help

I picked a hk 450 pro recently, torque tube gears were stripped, now replaced, made adj. spooled up approx 10 - 15 sec, outrunner motor was quite hot, and jittering when attempting to spool again, replaced ESC today, seems to have same issue.
Also, when spinning main rotor by hand, feels like a " brake " effect, if I disconnect the motor leads, this does not happen, is this normal ???

Thanx

Bob

your problem from the way I see it is that you have the motor too tight agenst the main gear back the motor off some and it should spin more freely so not so tight against the main gear

Hi Bob,
Your problem is that the gain on the gyro is too high.  I usually set the dial on the gyro gain to full CCW and adjust my channel 5 (Gyro Gain) to around 25 to start on rate mode, and 75 to start on Heading Hold mode.
If the tail wags slowly, then I increase the gain (decrease the number on rate mode, or increase the number on HH mode).  Please keep in mind that channel 5 is sending a servo position to the gyro and center is neutral.  The extents of travel of that servo would be Rate in one direction and HH in the other.
I still tend to get confused trying to get my head around that one.

I should probably add that if the wag is very quick, the gain is too high, as you have described, you should set your gain values to closer to 50% (JR, Spektrum) or 0% on Futaba / Hitec.

Hey there Bob,

Have you applied Robs Hot glue fix to the gyro?
