Default t-rex 450 motor surge

I have a t-rex 450 sport i got it used and it has always not main tain a true rpm or head speed the heli loses alltuide in a hover i just order a new motor and esc dose any one think it can be the battery it is a 3s lipo 2200 30c or is this normal thank

It is not normal and could be a bad cell in the battery. On some esc's, it will surge and wag the tail when the battery is low. Don't forget, it is also under a load and may be going under the cut off margin. I don't think it would be the motor, but is posssible. I was tend to lean towards the battery or possibly the esc.
