Whoa K. I looked for my reply to you but apparently I didn't push the button.

Yup Pup-Pup now weighs 70 lbs and yah, that's an old school "Bass Trakker bass buggy that needs to be pulled b/c the sun has made it so brittle.

Been a wet winter here so it will stay submerged until next fall!

All the best!

My JigSaw Cub saw worse and came back... just a little hot glue and some patience.

Saw you teasin' yer buddy about Insta-Trim. Naughty...

In other news... there are days when I want to just punch a vendor in the head.

A couple months ago, I ordered about 150 FC 6045 props from HiModel; welp, I've been using mostly the orange & green ones until recently. I bought 8 bags each CW/CCW in black, and just started using 'em on my AP Flying Brick. This afternoon I had a couple crashes; replaced some props... Go inside to get some more so I can fly one last pack before dark, and find my bag of CCW props are all 6045Rs. No problem; I figured I just put 'em in the wrong bag. Grab a fresh bag... all 6045Rs. Grab another... all 6045Rs. In short, I have 6 bags of CW and 5 bags of CCWs left... ALL 6045Rs. Now here's the thing. They're all stapled together according to type; with the mislabeled CCWs at the bottom of the bundle. ALL OF 'em. Dang 'em; they knew when they filled my order and deliberately mislabeled them hoping I'd make just this mistake of not counting them when they first arrived.

And now I think of it, I had some confusion a while back with my green ones where I was short some CCWs too. I just assumed I opened the wrong bag... a couple times.

Buttheads.

In other news...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv__1wbPhv0 First flight of the "Little Phoenix" ; my F801 that was eaten 2 months ago by the Kite-Eating Tree in my front yard.

Two months ago, this quad got slammed by the Wind Gods into the tippy-top of the biggest tree in my front yard; stuck up there where the branches are so thin even the squirrels don't go. Once the lights went out on the quad, I never saw it again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmOqiRAi_Gc
I wrote it off a couple weeks later after massive storms with 50-60mph winds stripped the tree pretty much bare of leaves and I couldn't spot it. Well, today it returned to me! We've had torrential rains here for several days, and my son was outside splashing in puddles and found it in the yard!

I've washed it out and dried it out; after 2 months in a tree all manner of insects made it home. Now it's all reassembled, oiled up and back in the air!

Aside from the camera, the only casualty was a single motor after 2 months of exposure to the Texas weather. I even recovered some video from the card; although no luck with the file recorded at the time of the "incident"...

And the crazy part... this is flying on the original battery! The protection circuit inside cut the power once it got low enough; when I got it on the bench and it wasn't all puffy, I tested it with my meter and it was still holding 3.01 volts!

I ran a few Charge-Discharge cycles on my Reaktor 300W x 2; it came up still showing 620 mAH capacity!

In a little bit, I'll be giving this quad to my son... We'll see how he fares with it. He saved it... it's his.

Yeah, I found that combo on Banggood a couple months ago; it's been selling between $22-26 ever since. My take on it was you buy the TX for cheap and get a cheap camera for free; everybody chewed on my tail for days for daring to suggest a CMOS camera in a "serious" FPV thread. I finally said pizz on it, somebody else can take the abuse for that POS TX and moved on.

I'm never going back to 8-Channel; even out here in East Bumfuzz TX, there's too much RF noise to find one clear channel out of just eight.

In other news; my 700-TVL CCD Effio camera was delivered a couple days ago; it was junk. Surveilzone sent a new one right away, but now I get to wait another 2 weeks for a decent camera, and my HeadPlay HD is supposed to be here any day now. Out of aggravation, I ordered another one from Banggood. $17 for a 960H 700TVL CCD with Effio DSP and 2.8 lens is very hard to argue with; TQ sez it's an awesome camera. Hopefully one of them will arrive about the same time as my new facebox.

You won't regret the Hakko, that's for sure. First time you solder a HXT 4mm to a 10ga wire you'll be like "How the fork did I EVER get along widdout dis t'ing?"

So I hit HobbyKing to buy some battery straps, and next thing I know I'm sitting there drooling over this...

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=63447

What the is wrong with me? I KNOW there's going to be another $600 to finish the thing out, and that's JUST the first set of blades & batteries...

In other news, these battery straps rock the Casbah:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...4-74936981F06B

The battery side is rubberized; it holds your battery down without sliding and without the need for Velcro stuck to the frame. Oh, and right now you can save like 45 cents if you buy 3 packs! I was already buying them, so 45c better in my pocket than theirs...

I like the straps and are pretty much over helis.

They were fun but alas as this thread has attested to it was a fun, former part of my life.

Actually as I slowly grow some little bit of skill I find myself wanting to revisit my helis, especially now that I can go full DFC for $50-60, including the FC. The thought of spending $80 on digital alloy servos for my HDX doesn't make me cringe since it no longer has $250 worth of head and FC that need to go along with. I think I wanna try the CC3D flashed for single-rotor, and it looks like I may be able to revisit the FUBAR, which has undergone a face transplant and appears now as the K-Bar.

http://www.amazon.com/%C2%AE3Axis-5-...dp/B00JOBEE12/

[EDIT]

And it appears the FU-BAR is now ALSO back; at least available for backorder.

[/EDIT]

Yeah; those were the ones I thought I had, but when I measured I found I'd ordered the 230mm so they'd also fit my 3s-4000mAH packs.

Doesn't matter which size you prefer; they simply are a better product.

Random HobbyCrunk update!

RC2211 over in the ZMR250 thread found some halfway decent fitted cases on sale at HK; while I was there gettting mine, I found a nice backpack case for DJI Phantom also on sale. b, I was thinking your Dart might like that one; I can't remember; is it a 350 or a 450?

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._250_case.html

$10.19 from USA East with $11.37 shipping to Central TX; cost the same to ship 2, so I did!

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

For those of you with a larger phantom-sized quad, they've dropped the price on this nice backpack case to $26.97. $11.76 shipping to Central Texas brings the total to $38.73. Only $17.34 to ship 2; that total's only $71.28.

I just got 2 of the 250 cases for $31.90 with shipping from the USA East warehouse. Of course I couldn't stop there; since I had over a kilo free space I added some tools, and a mess of batteries for my micros, and a little 1meter EPP wing just the right size for one of my "spare" ESC/motor sets...

HobbyKrunk, you just sucked up ALL my birfday money... AGAIN!!!
