Nothing tragic about that, unless you had to spend your money resurrecting after a crash...

Is that the Ready2Fly 1800mm Icon A5? I though you had that one already? Or did you have a smaller one?

Yeah, that's the same plane Ready2Fly was selling; even the same A488 model number. I guess they were importing it from DZ-Hobby too, though they don't show it in stock anymore either. I remember reading about this big bruiser foamie; HobbyKing used to stock it, but had to drop the product a few years ago because the manufacturers of the real Icon A5 aircraft licensed the design to Horizon for the UMX you also have.

How'd you you get one? Direct from DZ or did HobbyKrunk run a special sale to clear out a few old stock in the warehouse?

You running 4S or 6S as intended on that beast?

Awesome bit of model aviation history now, I guess; you'll be telling the grandpuppies about the monster foamie you "usedta could buy" before the age of litigation and product licensure... LOL

Hmm.
Hi again menm-eth!

The funny part is, is I have two medium ICONS and two UMX. One still in the box!

So I get a note on my RCACF.com website that "Steves hobbies" is having a moving sale,

I always wanted a cub with BIG ole bush tires and got one with the stabilizer in it and got it with a nice savings! I'm in love (gush)!

After check out of the Cub2, I notice the BIG HONKIN' box on the shelf containing the sought after ICON. Dang, I done spent my "birfday money"!

It says 200bux on the box. Will let me have it for 120USD. It's been sitting there FOREVER!

I went back there the next week and snagged it!

I'm using the HK G60 500kv with a 12x8. I have the three blade en route but will start with the way more efficient twin blade.

The batteries are from my seldom flown Align 500 6S 3000. I've been cycling them on the charger to get them ready!

All the juice is being managed by the venerable 60amp Plush that has been waterproofed with CorrosionX!

The control surfaces are managed by the 5 HK TGY's I had laying around with the retracts and front steering/rudder being controlled by CSRC 86mg's through a "push pull" arrangement.

I resolutely KILLED one of the mgs by over taxing the push-pull and BURNT up the devil so tomorrow AMAZON will deliver the replacement of which I will set ONE of the rods THEN the other. DOH!

The radio and Rx of choice is, of course the Taranis with the 8XR along with the VFAS for telling me how much 'gas" I got left!

There STILL is a place that sells them though. I found about it on this "other group" and it's www.kmp.ca.

All the best!

I vaguely recall a number of posts somewhere regarding the nose gear on these collapsing, and that the area they attach to needs to be reinforced with epoxy & ply or it'll break the retract mechanism when it caves. Did your fellows in "that other forum" mention this?

Just didn't want to see you find out the hard way, tho I'm sure you'll NEVER fly it dryside.

Oh, and you KNOW I wanna see your Cub. You'll prolly have it done long before I do mine...

Yah, I don't know if it will make it to the club ever as it's actually too wide to put in the back cab of the truck and I honestly don't know if it will fit in the bed but I AM going to have a functional gear.

I'll try the existing in that there are different iterations of this bird. If it collapses then I'll install the "Hobart" replacement that I bought for this purpose.

The Cub IS awesome but it's just the Parkzone Sport Cub V2 and I LOVE it!

Hey, beyontch!

Guess who has 2 thumbs and is moving a little closer to your corner of hell?

________THIS GUY!!!!

My wife got hired last Friday at an upscale ISD just East of Houston teaching in her words "Kids who are actually civilized" for almost twice what I'm making now! She and the kids are staying with friends of the family for the next few weeks while I wrap up my own job and get the house sorted and packed down; we intend to be all moved by the end of October.

w00t!!!

Peace, love and axle grease,

Been a while, still need to find time to turn boxes of parts into functioning 450 helicopters.

That being said, this looks tempting... Very tempting indeed...

Great flying Rikybob.
I can remember a time where well lets say fixed wing flight was a dream.
Great looking field I'm still on grass, flying that is! I've been very busy with work and trying to build.
My latest is a balsa usa nieuport 17 1/6 scale rcv sp 60 engine. I will post some pics later.
Hey B. what kind of camera is on the cub? Looks good.
Mnemennth not quite close enough!! A few more promotions and you will be in Ga or Fl.
best to all Hugh

Yeah; it's a rebranded HiSky HCP100S. I was looking at it over at Banggood a couple weeks ago... Only $80 or $83 from the US warehouse! I already have the TX module. A few months ago I bought a HFP-80 for $22 WITH TX Module; figured at that price I was getting the Heli for free. Sure it's fixed pitch, but it's ALSO pure rate mode AND FBL. I was actually surprised at how much fun it is, and how quick.

Jeebus... that beats my Hangar 9 Piper Pawnee all hollow... If I EVER get it rebuilt. Maybe the new town will have a new job with better pay for lil' ol' me, and maybe able to afford to build a gasser.

Hi there all, been far too long since I popped in. Have had very little time for any hobbies in the last year. Did however visit the shooting range to put names to my targets venting some frustrations.

Wow...

I guess I'm not the only one who forgot this little patch of Sunshine since I moved.

Well, I just sortof stumbled across this and I of course thought of all my old friends here; it seemed just too crazy cheap not to share.

Looks like BuddyRC carries it too, so parts should be available as well.

Yeah... I had to share it with some folks who've actually flown a eggbeater; my quad cohorts give me the equivalent of a "What The Funk Would You Want THAT For?" look whenever I try to talk helis with them.

MFR claims 20 minutes, or about 4-5 packs... sounds like forever to me.

Cheers y'all!
