Oh god I forgot this place even existed. Took a few goes to remember my password.
Yeah Im afraid my helis are sitting idle and gathering dust. Im into quad racing now and spend way to much time and money on them.
Got to the semi finals of the nationals though so I must be doing something right. If it wasnt for 2 pesky Americans I might have got a bit further
Actually they were really great guys who came to our next indoor race as well and I got revenge by beating them in a semi
Hope you guys are all doing well and having fun in whichever part of the hobby your in now.

These things are insanely fast now - 14:1 thrust / weight ratio is just crazy

Let me know next time you are racing in Sydney as I would love to come and watch.

Awesome!!!

Drone racing is taking off here in the States; two of the biggest leagues have merged and signed a multi-year contract with ESPN.

Big news around the corner, dunno if yer aware. RS2K is very close to pulling MultiShot and RaceFlight together into a coherent package. Before long, the entire floor of the industry is going to be raised a quantum level; entry level ESCs will be 32-bit F1, while FCs will be F3-F4.

And PIDs, for the most part, will be a painful memory, even for racing.

Oh, and yay us!!! Finally made it to Page 86!!! w00t!

Fascinating!

So that means one can just fly the thing rather than constantly tune it?

Amazing!

This is what K is working on... yeah. We're talking 32KHz bidirectional digital comms to the ESCs. A couple years ago, 500Hz PWM was "da bomb".

I'm not sure I believe the hype about HK's promised "HD over analog" technology. I think befinitiv's opened-up WiFi solution is going to be the next big thing, seeing as it's entirely open-source.

https://befinitiv.wordpress.com/wifi...ve-video-data/

Or are you talking about LaforgeFPV's diversity gear?

Yah, that was my observation in that HD data is a LOT of data to pass over 5.8.....

I suspect that one way or another in the next 18 months we'll be flying HD FPV at a half way decent cost.....

All the best!

I think that real 720P/30FPS SHOULD be doable with low latency over a single or dual link in the usual 5.8GHz band; I'm just annoyed the only folks interested in any of this are either the gigabux devs, or Home Surveillance folks looking to expand the market for products they already make rather than really developing anything new, even if it's just a 2X improvement in the resolution of an existing camera.

Interesting take....I guess the market DOES drive the device as we've been piggy backing since day one.

If it wasn't for the billion dollar development of cell phones we wouldn't have readily available accelerometers and gyros.

BAM! We harvest that tech for our own needs......

It's amazing to be born in these times!

In other news.....

Yup... as with everything, you follow the money.

Looking good; sealed up with clear silicone? Gonna keep the battery outside too... good idea. Doesn't need a huge one, so shouldn't be a problem.

Hope your Icon doesn't have a tizzy fit over "this... this... BOAT!" resting on her favorite perch.

Cheers!

If a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into, then a plane must be a similar hole in the air...

Hi, guys, eventually retrieved my login in again. All well over here, just fatter and older since I last checked in. Do take a heli from time to time to the air and toasted an ESC or two.

Hiya Edmund!

Glad you stopped by!

All is well here. I've moved to quad copters and fixed winged airplanes and maintain ONE 500 class heli of which I fly infrequently!

You should be near or retired?

Rob is doing well flying quads as is Ingleburn.

Jonesy is busy being a dad, enjoying boating and on the odd occasion flying.

It's been a year or two since I've heard from the Greek but at last check he was well too!

mnememennenne is still out there and he is actually FLYING!

All the best!

Hi to all.

I see Brian, Edmund, ingleburn in this page!
I saw Simon`s BOL video some other day!

The news is I never flown a 450, I had many years to fly any heli but I did a lot the past two months, I now have two little Spiros and expecting one more and I have got farsightedness...

Happy Easter to all !

Hey what's up guys,

I've ordered some heli parts on ebay on the last couple of weeks, hoping to get them delivered soon and build my budget 450 heli. I took a long break from the hobby due to budget issues(heaps of crashing). Hoping to stick around a little bit longer this time around. I'll be posting up my progress, so stay tuned guys.

Vyrn.

Logged in on my PC and it appears I don't have a "Sig line" anymore. EDIT: The sig line just popped up!

There wouldn't be enough room anyway!

Fun memories in this old place!
