Default T-Rex radio setup problem

I have just completed a 450xl with a Futaba R146ip PCM receiver. I am using a Futaba 9C transmitter. After connecting all the servos to the correct channels, I find that nothing is working correctly. The right\left cyclic is controlled by the elevator stick, the forward\backward cyclic is controlled by the aileron stick and the throttle is not working as it should.

The transmitter is set to the heli mode and I am using the sr-3 swash setting. Although I have flown airplanes for while, this is my first heli and my first try at setting up the radio. Is there something I have missed?

Thanks for any help.

Default RE: T-Rex radio setup problem

I had a simuliar problem with my Hitec transmitter (Optic 6) and couldn't get anything working in the correct manner even though I understood the programing. It turned out to be the receiver that I was using (Hitec HFD-08RD) was for Airplanes only and I had no idea there could be a difference in them, until I tried a new Cirrus MXR6 and as soon as I pluged it in problem solved. I don't know if you have the same problem, but what I learned is don't use old radio gear. Also i have my hitec set to Mode 2 (mode 1 is reversed for the UK)Good luck.

Thanks for the info, although I don't think it is the receiver. This receiver was recommended as the top of the line by Helihobby from whom I ordered the T-Rex. I am assuming that they would know if it was heli capable.

I think you have the wrong swash setting. Try a different swash setting in your transmitter. Unless you have the CCPM heli, you only need to have collective and throttle mixed. the other controls should work normally. Or connect the servo's according to the movement.

The XL is mechanical mixing if I'm not mistaken, try SW1
Then make sure you have
Channel 1 Aileron (left/right cyclic)
Channe 2 Elevator (fore/aft cyclic)
Channel 3 ESC/throttle
Channel 4 gyro plugged into rx, rudder servo pluged into gyro
Channel 5 gyro gain (if used)
Channel 6 collective pitch

http://www.trextuning.com should help you out with an XL

PROBLEM SOLVED ... thanks for all the good advice but the problem was with servo direction. I reversed channel 1 and 2 and all is now working properly.
