Default Trex 450S CF (new kit, my budget TREX)

I just built this kit as a second heli, I am selling the old CP PRO, and it is a great kit.

I just finished my TREX 450 SE a couple weeks ago (flies like a dream) and was really tired of the tail motor on the CP PRO.

I can tell you guys that this is a great flying heli.

It has quite a bit of alum. parts where they are really needed and not much bling.

Main rotor hub, tail rotor hub, upper swash, and motor mount are alum.

I had an extra DX7 rcvr and align gyro. (150.00 value) I went NON-digital on the tail with a HS-65HB. Holds great! Not a 401, but close.

I am really impressed for the money the way this bird flies. All the guys I fly with had the same impression as this being a great kit, especially after seeing it hover like a rock with little trim needed on it's maiden flight.

I spent $280.00 at my LHS on the kit, $100.00 on 4 hs65HB's, so for $400.00 (I had rcvr and gyro) I have a heli that flies very nearly to my SE!

The frame is the SE frame in Black carbon fiber.

The kit came with the 430l and the 35x esc. What a deal.

Now all my crash kit parts fit both heli and no more cp pro issues to deal with.

Hope this helps someone getting into a budget TREX, with a little more money or as you crash, this could easily be uprades to an SE!

Here are some pics !

wow that is a sharp looking bird.... I have been wanting to upgade from the CX. I am getting good at flying it and have been wanting to take it to the next level. I seen a ARF kit for $500 that came with the DX6 radio. Is that a decent deal? seems good to me.

Not a good deal.

I paid 284.00... 450S cf kit w/ motor , esc

dx6 is 199.00 regular price...

DX6 just doesn't fly the trex well enough.

You NEED the DX7, 5 point pitch and throttle curves, you WILL need them.

I had a DX6 and went to the DX7, trust me I made the switch on my SE and it was huge in the way it flew!

can you get that kit with the silver frame and how much more money would you have to spend to make it a SE?

I'm just now getting into heli's.... i have a Shogun V1 that i bought last year and never did anything with until now.....i'm waiting for a brushed esc, then i'll have everything for it.

I plan on getting a Trex once i get used to the Shogun and I'm still trying to figure out the right kit that will be best for me

Does not appear to be available in silver. Everybody gets silver anyway... Be different!

Hi Rob,

Cool looking heli! My friend has an SE and it is really good in hovering etc. but it is a bit expensive. I will go for the S but still waiting for the dealer here in Greece to get them!
Happy flying mate.

I was wondering what the difference was between the 450sa and the 450s cf. I know the 450sa has a aluminum frame and arf but is there any difference in any other parts of the helicopter.

Hey Darkhwak,
They are basically the same heli. The S is european, the SA is NorthAmerican. The tail rotor linkage on my S model is steel wire and the SA's have a carbon rod. The way i understand it the newew SA's will be coming with wire (its more crash resistant).
Other than that, to my knowledge its purely cosmetic...

Hope it helps...

P.S. My 450S flew incredibly well until I took up gardening...I planted my heli and parts popped up everywhere....

Would the 450s cf be a good helicopter to continue with. My experience is with a blade cx2 and realflight g3.5. Should i step up immediately to a t-rex or should i get a smaller heli like a blade cp first.i can hover tail in fine and fast forward flight with the blade cx2 and a little bit of nose in.

Get the Trex if money isn't a problem.

Blade cp will be a waste once you get hovering.

Crash parts costs about the same and the Trex is 10 times more helicopter and much more stable as well.
