Default HDX450se Or T-Rex450se

Hi:
I've been bitten by the Helicopter bug and want to make the move from my Honeybee to a Trex 450se. I've been looking around the net and a fellow Helio flyer told me about the HDX450se http://www.helidirect.com/product_in...oducts_id=1171

The specs read about the same as the T-rex
http://www.toyhaus.com/Merchant2/mer...w=&range_high=
(sorry this is kind of a long url).
Anyway I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the HDX450se. At about $80.00 less it maybe worth considering it.

thanks for you help.

Get the 450s for about $230, then get the HDX 450 Head and Tail upgrade. Then you can get all the option upgrades at your luxury.

Or get the new 450SE V2 for $550.

Brovic777: Doing a part upgrade is a good Idea except I was hopeing to keep the final cost down. Especialy for me because I'm still a beginner.

HeliTB: That was the answer I was expecting to get. But was just hopeing that someone had a HDX and could say it's as good as the SE.

Thanks you both for your inputs on this. RCUnivers is a great place for getting answers.

Brovc777:
I watched the video of the 450se that you posted and found out that the 450se I was looking at from toyhaus.com may not be the New v2. The picture shows the metial case but it doesn't say v2 on it and the box they have displayed does not say New or V2 on it. So I'm thinking it's not.

Yea, if it does not say NEW V2 its not the real deal, but the old one. Some dealer's out there putting stickers on the boxes, trying to sell them as the NEW V2.

I guess that's why I see a price of $379.99 from the toyhaus.com.
Well the hunt goes on.

I got mine from heliproz. It does have a sticker saying V2 on it, but heliproz is a pretty good shop. I can't imagine they would do something like that.... just to be sure, what's the difference between the old and V2?

I wish I new what the diff was. I think it might be the motor. 3500 vers 3550.
I just found the web site of the company that made it.
http://www.align.com.tw/html/en/e_company.htm.
Looking that the se pictures they look the same at all the other web sites I've seen.
I'm going to review the web site and see what I can find out. Then maybe send them a email to find out what the diff. might be.

There is major difference between the 450se and the 450se V2.

For one, I know the new Head is a little different on the V2. It has a thicker feathering shaft, and the blade grips have the align logo's.
The CNC is a darker blue.
The Side Frames are thicker.
You can easily mount the gyro now.
And a few others.

Since I already have the Trex 450s that is all CNC upgraded, there is no point for me to get the new V2.
I'm going to get a 500 size heli in the summer that is in between a Trex 450 and the Trex 600.

I've been reviewing the video's at Helifreak and your are correct about the updated fram etc.
And I'm wondering why I need the new V2 when I'm just learning and haven't even mastered hovering much less that doing 3D.
So with that the HDX450se might be more than enought for me.

Guys,
I watched the vid by Finless, and mine is definitely NOT the V2. Its still a beautiful heli aI got for a great price so I'll keep it. I just wanted to mention this because the Heli Proz combo ad says V2 in it, and its not! Finless saidn the V2 will sell for $533. I got mine with the 401/9650 and 3 HS65s for $669. Pretty decent. Oh, btw, Chief aircraft is selling a similar combo, also calling it the V2 but its not.

Dave,
Was it marked V2 on the box when you received it? Did you call them about it?

It has a sticker on it that says 450SE V2, but its not part of the box art, like the latest version. I'll call them on Monday when they're open. I think we're getting into some grey areas here, in that folks are saying older versions of the 450 SE had a different swash. I remember reading long ago that they were having durability issues with it. But the newer one has align printed on it. Mine does, as well as a blue main gear. So mine isn't the original version. The problem comes now, when there is an official V2 version being released. Too much confusion. If Heliproz had put together a combo with the new V2, it would have been beyond my current available funds. So I'm pretty happy. With the new version out, however, we need to get this cleared up.

I'm kind of thinking the same as you. Getting the new V2 would be nice but the cost is high. I'm just shooting for the orginal V2. It still has the durablity and low crash repair cost.
Keep us up to date on what HeliProz tells you.
