Just keep rubbing it in guys!

I have yet to fly this thing but, rest assured I have done some research.

I'm a NOOB to DX's so I had to study up on those.

Basically I'm all set up electronically...have to set head level and pitch.

I flew my first RC helicopter yesterday. It is the new V2 Trex. Everything went well except I needed to have the pitch/throttle stick almost to the top end to get the heli to lift off. The throttle curve was set at 0, 50, 85, 95 100. The pitch was -2 to +11 (pitch curve 35, 42, 50, 75, 100). The real mechanical pitch setting was -11 to +11. I don’t know why I couldn’t get it to take off at closer to middle stick. Everything else worked well (gyro, left-right, forward backward, clockwise counterclockwise turning). Anyway on my third battery charge, I crashed it down hard.

I have two questions. Why was it so hard to get off the ground?

Where can I get spare parts? Heliproz does not have any part in. I need a main shaft, boom, belt, horizontal tail fin, etc...

I can't express how exciting it was to finally fly my first RC heli. The Reflex fight simulator really helped me get some basic moves down.

Hi the -11 and + 11 is only used when you are in idle 1 or 2 , it sounds to me like you had the heli set at -11 +11 in normal flight mode , this is why your heli came down hard , in normal flight mode you should have the heli set mechanically i fly DX7 so this an example how my pitch is set at , Low -2 , ( 1 )+1.5 ,( 2 ) 0.0 , ( 3 )+ 6 , High +11 how ever if your a newb , i would recommend this settings , Low -2 , ( 1 ) + 2 , ( 2 ) + 5 , ( 3 )+ 6 or + 7 , High +10 or 11 remember you must have pitch gage when you do this , if you don`t know how to use a pitch gage get some help from an experience heli pilot , as far as getting parts try WWW. RC Hover .com they just posted that they got a bunch V2 parts on there web site , hope that helps . Ed

Cooool! I like the DX7. I am using a JR8103 which is fine execpt for the ant. With two new 2.4gig's on the way from JR, plus other vendors coming on line with them, I'll have to make the plung one of these days.

I just came in from my yard and 5 more flights.... just hovering and back and forth stuff. I did have a crash a week or so back when TRex wanted to go into a tree and I was not prepared. It started triming the low hanging leaves and I was a bit agressive in lowering the collective. This was only 4-5 feet off the ground but when I hit the ground, the blade hit the boom and left a dent in the boom, broke a blade, and removed one tooth from the belt. I replaced the belt, which had 60-65 flights, and blade and am back in business.

Happy flying Gamemaker!

Looks nice GM![8D] Same setup w/o CF blades.

That's a nice li-po & charger system. I'm using the Triton Jr. and Equinox balancer
for now. It charges the Align battery in about 45 minutes at 2.5 amps. Pretty flawless
but, I'm still eyeballing those Bantam BC-6 & BC-8 chargers from RC Accessory.

Whew, that was a pretty quick recovery![8D]

I'd have to wait for weeks to replace that stuff.

The shop I work at can barely get parts for the SA, but we are
working on it. Our market hasn't quite reached the high-end
heli guys (except for Blade, Axe...etc buyers) yet as we are brand new (open 2
months now) but believe it, there was much interest generated when
I brought the V2 in for display! [8D] Owner wants me to build either the SE or the
600 kit that we can't seem to unload yet.

Well, I got hoverage yesterday...such an unbelieveably smooth rig![sm=thumbup.gif]

Got a few turns in and transitioning was great. I had probs with the 401 not working right.
Thought that blinking red light was normal. Moved it to the gear channel and everything is now fine
and HH now functions.

Anyway, very nice machine and I am just tickled pink!

EDIT: And I forgot to mention thanks to RaserX for the head leveling pics. That cleared a lot up for me
when I got to that stage!

Just wondering how you actually fixed this. I'm building my 1st T-Rex V2 and I have the same problem. My spacer is in the right location (on the very top so it sits between the main gear and the lower main shaft bearing. The mesh between the main tail rotor gear and the middle shaft gear is off just like yours. Its like the middle shaft gear is too high. Also the side of the main gear rubs on the the hub of the middle shaft gear at a certain point in it's rotation (maybe a little warped). I've seated the one-way bearing in the gear and have compared it to others. It looks like it's seated from what I can tell. Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks for your help!!

Woops Sorry about the above. The reply button didnt do what I thought it would do (I thought it would include the original article - Sorry N00b here). The original post I was replying too was the one from Sportflyer where he could get the gears on his V2 to line up properly. His picture (on page 1 of this thread) looked like he had the spacer in the wrong spot. As mentioned above mine is in the right spot but my gears dont line up.

Desmon,

My tail rotor gear is ever so slightly warped also, it meshes fine with the belt drive gear
until a certain point in the rotation but, it's not affecting anything and the heli
still sounds great when it's running. It seems Align might have overlooked
some of these gears in the haste to get these things out to us.

I found that when I was being nosey and separated my
gears and parts went flying (which come joined in the kit),
that I had put the brass spacer back in BETWEEEN the
gears instead of back on top of the main gear. Check to see
if there's anything in the lower gear like a spacer or anything
and remove it. I know this is obvious but, the only other
thing is the seating of the OW bearing.

As far as warping, if it's severe enough, I'd contact
your dealer and get a new gear set rushed to you.

Sportflyr,

I appreciate the tip on the warping. Min isnt real bad. I'm wondering if it will wear in after I spool this thing up a coulpe of times. No spaceers between the gears and I seated the OW as far as it will go. If it isnt affecting anything Iwont bother with it any further. I guess I could machine a couple of .001's off of the spacer and the OW inner race to get it right if it turns out to be a problem.. Is the warping a problem with Align gears in general? Does someone offer a better gear as a replacement? These things seem like they are molded and not machined which might be part of the problem.

Thanks for your help!!

Sounds like a winner, but could you show a pic?
The align gears are definitely molded and I'm willing to bet a lot of V2's out there are at least
a little off in some way at first. My tail drive gear has straightened a little with use, it seems
to mesh better with the middle shaft throughout the whole rotation so, perhaps there's something to your
theory. Either way, there is no better sounding 450 on the market seriously, it hums!.[8D] I think Align
did a stellar job on the new gear set and heli in general.

Yup, that's the stuff! Makes me want to take mine apart, box it up and re-live
the smiling from ear to ear![sm=regular_smile.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=tongue_smile.gif]

Edit: That's a tight charger, How are Hyperions and what model is it and the balancer?

Congrats![8D]

I priced several and wanted a AC DC so I talked to Tim at http://www.rcandme.com/catalog/. This is the charger and balancer they use. I was not looking to spend 160 bucks but am glad I did. This combo really is easy to use and seems to do it all. Time to start the build.

I have a DX7 on the way to use with my SEv2. Is there any reason none of you guys are using the S285 servos included with the DX7 instead of the HS65s? Did you buy your DX7s before the version with micro servos came out?

Also, when connecting the tail rotor rod to the servo arm, are you connecting a ball to the servo arm? It's near impossible to tell how they have the rod connected to the arm.

The HS65's is what these guys recommend. I have a friend who has the 65's and the 401 gyro and 9256 servo. Its a bit more money but makes a great Helli even better. I just followed the recommendation of those who were there before me. I saw how well there 's flew and wanted the same. Mike
