SUCCESS, My 500 flys!
Thanks to all that helped in getting my T-rex 500 flying!!
I thought I'd never get thru it all, between the GY401 set-up issue, the chase a rotorhead vibration (blade balance issue), and the MAJOR UNKNOWN of using a 15 tooth pinion with a 4 cell, I'm glad to say it all WORKS!
"Big-Bird's" maiden flight was about 1 hr ago, in 10-15 mph breezes. I don't have a clue as to what my headspeed is, but it seems to work fine, somewhere in the 1850 to 1900 rpm in NORMAL, maybe 2300 in IDLE-UP. First flight time was about 12.6 minutes in NORMAL mode, using the OUTRAGE 4c 3700mah Lipo. Next flight (once battery #1 recharges), will be in IDLE-UP, so I can get a time for that as well.
Overall I'm VERY PLEASED with the quality of the kit (less those stupid BUTTON HEAD screws[:@] ), and it flys great in windy conditions (10-20mph), something that always limited me when flying my "Little-Booger" (MX300), poor "LB's" gonna get parked on a shelf.
Thanks Again Guys,
Rick

Congrats on getting it in the air. I love the way the 500 fly's in the wind as well as keep prospective is easy. Thats great flight time! I just ordered 3 6s 3300 25c packs for mine and was hoping to get half that time. Try buying the Align driver for those screws.

Awesome, I had my maiden flight this weekend as well ... man the 500 is a great BIG bird when compared to my 450 and the way it handles the winds 10-20 as well this weekend.
Running a 4s lipo?
I thought we had to run 5s or 6s?

I am very glad, man I love the 500 ... it just has such a much more stable feeling to it, yet it is very powerful, but easy to control.
I need to get more batteries though, and a new charger so I can charge 6s or 2(3s) at once, charging them seperately sucks! ReadyHeli is out of the KongPower charger until next month.

I tried to buy that charger as well. I ended up ordering a Thunder power 1010 and a ballancer and a power supply. After puffing one of my Kong packs I decided I needed to do it right. I also ordered three 6s 3300 25c packs. Now I need to figure out what darn connectors to get.
I love the power to weight raito of the 500 and how I can play when its windy. Mostly I love how I can see it. LOL

I bought a TP 610, which comes with a balancer and can handle 6s lipos as well as two 3s at the same time. I ordered an Align 6s 25c 2600mah lipo to add to the battery bag, so now I have enough for 3 flights and 2 flights on my 450.
