Default RE: Copter X 450 CNC machining quality

This is really a good thread... I had the first batch of Copter X 450 SEV1.. its a nice heli.. The first Proto I had were really well built.. up to spec I may say... I had like a couple of other batches that came in , the Copter X 450XL, SE1.5, AE, SEv2.. as time went on the quality of the heli differs. Although the ones I usually got were good... But when I got the production class.. there were some differences with the quality and structure.. At our field.. there are more CopterX helis than the Align TREX... I have flown both with the same setup and gear.. and dont seem to find any difference on flight.. both are air worthy and seem to have the same feel.. for crashes.. both break similar parts.. main shaft, tail shaft, feathering shaft.. framework.. alum inserts... I dont find the ALign to be more rigid as it breaks the same parts in crashes... the only Advantage I see with the ALign Helis is the quality of workmanship on the parts... The way they do the CNC parts looks better... But I Had align parts on the Copter X and still does brake similarly...

its just a matter of choice.. and if you have the $$$ for it...

for the Align 500 and the Clone 500.. it look identical.. parts are interchangeable too.. so I guess its just similar with the Copter X and Align trex competition....

this is the 500 class heli...

do you think it looks exactly like the Align 500... well its like the CPX 450 clone all over again..

flies nice too...
using a G-lock gyro.. function like a spartan... hehheh a spartan clone too...

Well the best option make sure they know how mych the Trex costs and how expensive you replacement parts will be after you last crash (my head snaped on powering up and broke everything from the swash up, chewed gears on my new HS65HB and bent mainshaft)

next is not to metion the $100 postage (or at least say it realy quick)

good luck will let people know how I go I need to still purchse 2 HS65MG and a gear set so need to wait until next pay day

Hi,

I will soon be an owner of "CopterX CX 450SE V2 2.4GHz" so I just wanted to ask if someone knows which subforum is most suitable for CopterX ?

sorry if interrupting the thread...

thanks,
/Denis

I have found a number of subforums and theads arround
but the best I have found so far is the CopterX FAQ thread on RC groups (it is a very long tread and you may need to search at times but has most of the information required

I have not done anything for a while waiting onsom HS65MG servos.

Yes, I think the tail is leading edge control instead of trailing edge ...

The black angel looks good.. similar to the one that they sent way back feb08. The heli is quite fast.. more agile than the CPX450V2 or the TREX SEv2.
The head parts of the Black angel are quite simple although is made really well...

The main changes they made is the swashplate. They made place a ring all around the swash plate. kinda new I guess. and they revised the framework making it more of the CPX450 brothers it has.

this is the one that they sent last feb,.

they had no name for it before.. but when it came out it was the CPX black Angel.

For the CPX 480.. I have tested this heli last year.. Its more like a 450 to me with a longer boom. It flew strange and was tail heavy.. The frame work is too thin and its kinda hard to put in the electric parts inside the frame.. The blades were a little longer than the stock 325. If I remember correctly it was around 355mm. Initially they were planning on calling it the CPX500.. but it did not pass the standards of a 500 class heli so they dropped it to a CPX480

here it was when I first sent the 480 heli

the boom is longer than the standard 450 heli but it has the same 12mm diameter

here is the heli in comaprison with the CPX200, CPX450 and the CPX480

For the CPX500.. well its similar to the T500 in parts. Almost identical. The only difference it the plastic parts of the T500 like the bottom plate and battery plate are all aluminum on the CPX500. The tail boom block is also aluminum making the heli more sturdy. But there will be some weight difference over the T500 heli. The nice thing about the heli is its interchangeable with the T500 parts.

hope this helps...
