Default XL vs SE

Can someone that knows and doesn't mind tell me if an xl can be upgraded to SE or are there too many differences to make it worth the trouble?Ok guys sure do thank you for the info. Think I'm going to wait for the after xmas sales and pick me up a barebones
SE and build it while learning on the fp i already bought.

there is a world of difference between the xl and se. not worth to upgrade an xl to an se. you would be replacing everything. keep the xl and buy an se if you want one. trex450se is a whole lot better than the xl.

You end up with a SE label on a XL. Also, lots of SE parts that no one wants. Not to mention the pita of doing (redoing?) eveything twice.

did that with my first one.... while it was fun to tinker with and build it, it really is not worth the money or the pain...

I'd start over with a new SE... oh wait... I just did this week! Yipeee

or you can get the 450sa thats a very easy model to mod to the se because it shares all the same parts only the materials are different and the sa is about half the price of the se i had an old xl and started to mod it out then i realized it was just easier and cheaper to grab the sa and start from there

yeah, I think if you are going to upgrade to an SE, start with an SA... it'll be a cheaper route...

I've got an XL upgraded to pretty much an SE, way too much money to piece together, and I didn't buy all Align, and I bought some used, I just picked up a 450SE GF for a sweet price, this may be the way you want to check out.... all the aluminum, just a bit more weight...
