Default Irvine .53

I had some more fun with my new tachometer today.

The engine is an Irvine .53, the English version with the Jetstream carb.
Plug: OS #8
Fuel: Rapicon HLS 15%
Temp: 11C/52F
Silencer: original Irvine 53 silencer. From the factory, the baffle is between the 2nd and 3rd part of the silencer. I have put it between the 1st and 2nd part. According to Just Engines, this will make the engine quieter at the expense of 2-300 rpm.

APC 11x4 - 14100
APC 12x4 - 12800
APC 11x5 - 12600
APC 12.25x3.75 - 11600
APC 11x7 - 10800
APC 12x6 - 9900
APC 13x4W - 9600
APC 13x6 - 9500
APC 12x8 - 8400

Why do you appear sad?

I mean from my experience ,
the engine works awsome,

and it doesn't take long time to break-in!

You can see how nice mine run even on the first and second tank of fuel,
and also INVERTED!

I'm sure the engine runs fine, I just prefer the way Irvine of england built them with true ABC and the excellent jetstream carburetor. I have a few of the MKII .46's (made in england).

I will enjoy my OS/irvine .53, I just don't expect it will last as long as a real Irvine.

HI
the engine transitions real nice -you have it running very well from my personnal experience you could be loosing 1000 RPMS by using the rubber muffler extentionremove it and see if you pick up some RPMS-only if you like i care little if i have to clean the plane a little more to improve flying performancejust my .02 cents after 20 years of two stroke glo engine handling i chose to remove the muffler baffel all the time to increase performance i grind my exhaust port out to gasket size and smooth the flow there as much as is possible-i grind out the exhaust exit on the muffler ( noise not an issue at my field ) i like the increase in performance and i like to hear my enginesas it helps me to identify a DEAD STIK and reacting quickly is very often very important-to landing the plane with no issues thank goodness my dead sticks are very seldom after all these years of flying and RC fun ENJOY BEST REGARDS TONY
