3W-60K Lives On.
3W-60K bought from a friend of mine that wanted a newer motor for towing big gliders.
Got it installed it in a WH Cap232. One of the first thing I did was blow the 4.8 VDC ignition. I replaced it with an
RCXEL unit from WildHare RC.
32:1 Penzoil Aircooled oil
93 Octane Shell Unleaded
22x12 Zinger 6500
22X12 3B Mejzlik CF 5100
23x10 WH Bunny prop 6600
24x10 WH Bunny Prop 5900
24x8 Topflite Power Point - 6500
24x8 WH Bunny Wood Prop - 6350
The motor gets alittle hot (around 180 degrees in the cowl) and 210 on the ground. Baffling should take care of that.
I forgot just how much the normal aspirated motors spit. This one produces a healthy stream down the fuse even covered
up with the cowl. Got the tuning down on this motor now, all the heat problems solved wtih baffles, makes the Cap 232 into
a good Aerobat model capable of anything the pilot can do.
LOVE THIS MOTOR.
Well so much for flying my new toy, the covering came off the wing. I guess that 3W-60K is so powerfull it rips the covering plum off.
Repaired the coveringer flew the plane again and this time I really snapped and stressed the wings, all ok.
