The Magnum carb is around $35 is I remember correctly from the Distributor's web site. I would buy anothe engine before I spent much on the 2300. If you want performance go with Saito, Magnum, or OS.

OS and Thunder Tiger carbs are direct swaps. The OS 7D is the carb used on both the OS 91 and 108. The carb from an MDS 1.48 also works. The later carb is better than the orignal with the MDS.

If you go to Tower Hobbies web site they give the dimensions of the carbs. Many carbs like the Magnum will need an adapter to work. A machine shop can turn you one out of aluminum.

Just got a perry carb model 5002 (only $29 at my lhs) for mine. As I am not allowed to run the motor in my house and it is terrible weather outside I will have to wait to see if this combo works. I have a perry vp30 pump/regulator and a bisson pitts muffler. I hope this cures the midrange blues.....

Beach,

Thanks for the comeback, and please let me know what you find. KWeasle has been VERY helpful on this topic. If you would like explicit fix options for this engine, email or PM me, and I will send you the link I received. I will take pictures of my the Super Sportster I got with the Super Tigre 2300 on it. Massive plane, with a massive engine. I can't wait to get this thing in the air. I spent 7hrs at the field today, got a lot of sun, some pit area clearing work done, and oh ya, quite a few flights. Getting pretty comfortable with my Ultra Sports. For such an old plane (80's) arf, it just plane flys to no end, a lot of fun, such a calm day I finally got it trimmed out dead center on all surfaces, making for even more exciting low passes 10". I am going to look into a kit for a new one and built it as it just flys so nice. Awesome day.... Greg

Hey Guys,

Hate to resurrect an old thread but I want to ask a question again that someone else asked in this thread but never received an answer to. Has ANYONE used the Jett red carb on this engine??? What were your results?? Good, bad or indifferent, any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Well I just noticed that I never responded to this. I have removed the Perry Carb as it made hand starting impossible. I also lost some top end RPM's with it and could not get this thing adjusted. The low needle setting is too touchy. I could not find the right combo with this carb so I put the stock one back on. I need some nicer weather and some time with the stock carb but think I can get it to where I am happy.
