Hi Bill,
I have had two of them but havent tried them with 22x6 or 22x8. One was on a pipe and the other on a home made high volume muffler. The stock mufflers are either very noisy or very very restrictive.
On a APC 20x14@7400rpm, Forte wood 22x12@6100, Menz24x10@5500, APC 18x14@8400. For fuel 5% nitro content. Worked best between 6500-7500rpm on the ground. I think the 22x6 i to small a propp but a menz22x8 should give you about 6500-7000rpm depending on the exhaust system .

Thanks very much for your info mate. The 22x8 does look good. To pick your brain a little further, what size aircraft do you use them in and how did the motor preform in the air? Thanks again for your time.

The aircraft was of the aerobatic type and it was big about 100" wingspan, and weighted about 25LBS. The engine gave decent power for basic aerobatic on this one. The other airplane was much smaller about 75" and weighted about 20LBS and the power was very good on this one.
This big alky engines used to run cold and I had to use very hot plugs for best running specialy during the winter. But I dont think you have to worry about that in the hot climate of Australia. OS-F plug or Mccoy 55 worked best for me. I had reliable idle at 17-18"rpm and the throttle response was very instant just like a fourstroke. 10% halfsynthetic 50/50 oil in the fuel worked best for me and the engine didnt get varnished. Bill, you don't under any circumstances want the 4500 to turn faster than 8,000, the wrist pin circlips have been known to dislodge at 8,000 +. I got a used one that had happened to and when Tower lowered the price to $229 I just ordered a new engine. I ordered the new parts for the used one but discovered the bearings were rusty too, canceled the parts order. I still have the old engine and may finish repairing it some day.
