Post your tach readings including the fuel/plug/prop used. I'm interested what readings people are getting with a 10x6 MAS.

I think you will get more from it than 11,600 .
I ran my modified ST gs.40 yesterday and here is the results.
10%nitro 18%oil Klotz O.S#8 Plug 10x6 MAS 15,800
15%nitro 18%oil Klotz O.S#8 Plug 10x6 MAS 16,000-16,100
15%nitro 15%oil Klotz O.S#8 Plug 10x6 MAS 16,200
This is with a strap on Bisson sport muffler, I have yet to mount a header and pipe on it.
This is a great engine to work with. Puts out alot of power for it's size. I really don't know many .46's that can get 16,000 stock. Mind you the .40 is modified.

let me try it with 15%. was using that earlier in the summer and I remember being in the high 13K's (like 13,800 to 14,000). didnt fly the plane in a while and I just gassed and took off. quick check of the RPM from the tach in the 9z.
but you're right, ST's are great - esp if broken in properly.

The Spirits of St Louis RC Club will have their 4*40/ST GS 40 races this weekend. I have will be practicing all week. The club supplies the 10x6 MAS prop and the 15 or 10% Cool Power fuel. All the engines will turn about 14,400 to 14,800 rpm. There will be at least a dozen entrants. Don't under stand readings posted. Come to our field this Sat and you will see fun racing. All the planes must be stock and the only engine allowed is a stock ST GS 40. We still allow the taperback muffler however most are the flat backs. We have 16,000 rpm limit and with 15% CP some will approach 16,000 rpm. I'm practicing this week with 11.5% CP and getting 14,500 rpm. Our course is 200 yd/double pole. You only have to pass the pole and not go around it. Come on down.

Yesterday, my ST40 turned 14,300 on 15% coolpower with a Master Airscrew 10-6 Scimitar series prop, Mac's one-piece muffler. engine definately had more 'oomph' with the higher nitro and the plane felt like it should!

bone stock GS .40 With silent muffler.
15% wildcat fuel and a mas 11x6=11,400 rpm
P.S. Like the way it sounds around that RPM, this is going on a Laker sea plane. The High RPM is not needed.
