11,500 on 30% Morgan's heli fuel swinging an 11x8 APC. I also gas ported the piston. Unbelievable performance! Technically too many rpms though, 11,500 on the ground would be over 12k in the air and over redline. Mine is still holding together.

I guess I'll start with a 13x6, and If I need to "hover the day away" I'll give the 14x4 a shot. I may yet cut it down till I can get 9500 rpm or so. I appreciate the tips. I'm also reading today about checking the valves. The manual does mention doing this after break in. I appreciate the tips.

FYI- the feeler guage that Saito gives you is .010" and the valves should be adjusted between .002-.004" That means that if you can fit the supplied guage between the rocker and valve, then you are at least .006" too loose. Make sure you use a quality feeler guage...Craftsman should be just fine.

My .72 is turning 10,000 with my 14x4w running 30% heli fuel, I backed it down to 9800, of course this is assuming my H9 tach is reading correctly

RE: Saito 72
Hey everyone, I am getting around 10,300 (tac'd) on my Saito 72 using an APC 13x4 running Wild Cat Curtiss Youngblood mix (30% nitro 23% oil).
I have it in a Dave Patrick Ultimate .40 size. It will hover really well and it will harrier right on down to a landing. I am thinnking of trying out the 13x6 or 14x4. I really think its all about works best for the particular plane as well.
FWIW the 13x4 will get the job done for hovering. I will give the other two props a shot this weekend though.

I've drilled out my muffler, with the six smaller feed holes now 4mm dia and the tailpipe to 8.5mm dia and she's now pulling a 13x10 APC at 8900rpm on 15% nitro.
Not great rpm figures, but it pulls my 60 size middlestick (3.5 kg's) to 165 km/h with the same vertical as a decent 60 two stroker. Not unlimited vertical, but good for turnaround type flying.
In the beginning I had it running a 12x8 MA and I was very disappointed. I now love it.

How did you gas port your piston ? I have tried the YS notches around the edge of the piston and could not tell the difference. I got an old YS 53 to run great by milling four 1/32" holes through the top of the piston straddling the inside of the ring groove and a few thou into the top.
