What prop did you have on the 200 and was the static peak rpm?

Based on displacement I would have to say the Saito 200 would be the stronger engine.

It was a 16/8 and the static was at or around 7800. I believe the engine was tired though. The stats indicate that the Saito 180 was a stronger pulling engine than the 200 inline because of it being a twin. The Jugs on the Twin were two .91's with a slightly longer stroke.

Depending on the brand, the 155 will spin a 16X8 at 9000 rpm on 5% nitro. It will spin a APC 17X6W@ 8900, a 18X6W@ 8000 and a 17X8W@ 8000 all on 5% nitro.

It sounds like the 200 doesn't have the poop.

Phil,

If your motor only spun the 17X6 @ the posted rpm something isn't right. I have owned 4 of these engines and they all performed as I posted. I still have three

SP one,

I have two - both will turn 84-8600 on a 16-8 proZinger, 10 - 18 wildcat fuel. Judging by the way they fly my Rascal 110, I feel theres nothing wrong with them. Maybe my tach reads a bit low. My 20 year old R120 spins a 14-10 ProZinger at 8900, but it has many, many hours. In any event, I am happy with how they run and derive many hours of pleasure without worrying about a few hundred RPM more or less.

Remember, flare before the wheels hit the ground

Hi Hobbsy,

I had my 120R in a Dalotel I built back in '86. I cleaned it up and took it out a few months ago, to shake the dust out of it. I let a young (16) member of our club fly it and he said "I love this airplane!". So I gave it to him after seeing him do more things with it than I ever could. Oh, to have the eye hand coordination of a 16 year old! But that was over 60 years ago!!!!

SP 0ne,

You're probably right! I will have to try an APC.

(not peak, still rich a little)

8600 APC 16x8
8800 Graupner 15x10

The engine is installed in PAM Gee Bee Model Y
