30% Cool Power Fuel
70 Degrees
Altitude ? - ATL. GA.
Engine has about 6 gallons of fuel through it.
All readings were done 11/9/02.
13x6 APC Prop
PEAK = 11500
NORMAL RUN = 9600
-Ideal Prop for sport flying.
12x8 APC Prop
PEAK = 11000
NORMAL RUN = 9500
-Great speed prop. Not so great vertical.
14x6 MASTER AIR...
PEAK = 9400
NORMAL RUN = 8400
-Not a great size prop for the engine, but I get a great vertical climb at 1/2 throttle. BUT, I don't notice much of a difference when I go to full throttle.

15% nitro Sig fuel (10% castor 10% synthetic):
APC 13x4W: 11000 peak, great pull
APC 13x6: 10500 peak, good all around
APC 14x5N: 10500 peak, excellent acceleration
APC 14x4W: 10000 peak, max static thrust, slow spool up
MA 13x6: 9800 peak, scratch proof?
TF PowerPoint 13x6: 10000 peak, so so

New engine:
40 min running at 4.5 turns out
Leaned to 9800rpm
set low end for crisp response
adjusted valves
15% Maxy fuel, 17% oil (80/20 syn/castor)
APC 13x6
10,700 Max
9,900 for flying
Have run 1/2 gal at these setting with no backfires or deadsticks (unless I ran out of fuel from havin too much fun)

4 tanks of irvine contest fuel. Low speed needle not touched. Leaned out a bit. Close to 10,000 rpm with an APC 12x8.
What static thrust are you guys getting?
Thanks
Luke

RE: Saito 72
They say you shouyld dial it in for about 200 rpms under top end. Is this a good estamate? if I can get 10 grand 9800 should be ok? Some one said you should see smoke? Id hate to ruin such a nice engine.

RE: Saito 72
I tached my friend's somewhat new (about 1 gallons) Saito 72, it was peaking APC 13x6 at between 10600 and 10700. He uses Wildcat 15% nitro fuel. I put a force gauge and it reads 7.5 lb of thrust. So 11500 rpm on this prop would give 8.7lb of thrust by correlation, assuming thrust ~ rpm^2.
