Brison 3.2 numbers
i am getting 7000 on a 22 x 8 Menz with a v-stack 25 gallons of petro
22 x 8 Menz w/out a stack on a 3.2 3 gallons 6700 RPM
21 x10 Mejzlik 7500
21 x 10 Menz 6800-6900
22 x 8 Menz w/out a stack on a 3.2 3 gallons 6700 RPM
21 x10 Mejzlik 7500
21 x 10 Menz 6800-6900

Brison 3.2 numbers
i run amsoil 50 to 1 there is also a amsoil thats made that is required to be mixed at 100 to 1. brison uses the hard clyinders. They told me to prop mine for 6500 to 7500 on the ground when i called them over 40 gallons ago. This made me switched out the following 22 x 10 props that i tried:
22 x10 rcs maple 6150-6300
22 x10 futz 6000-6050
22 x10 menz 6400-6500
22 x 10 fortes 6250-6350
Now i only run 21 x 10 or 22 x 8.
the motor did great on those 22 x 10 props but Brison says i could over work the girl
all of the above reading were when i had 2 gallons on the motor
now 40+ gallons
22 x 8 mezn 7000-7250
22 x 8 Mejzlik 7150
22 x 8 Bamula 6930
22 x10 rcs maple 6150-6300
22 x10 futz 6000-6050
22 x10 menz 6400-6500
22 x 10 fortes 6250-6350
Now i only run 21 x 10 or 22 x 8.

Brison 3.2 with standard inline muffler
MenzS 21X8 = 7600 rpm AMSOIL 100:1
Zinger Pro 22X8 = 7200 rpm AMSOIL 100:1
These numbers were verified with two different tachs.
I bought this engine used but I had it tuned at Brison and I have personally run about 12 gallons through it.
It is a monster. I prefer the 21X8 MenzS. Makes my DP Extra truly ballistic.

OK, just got done running it again, I tried playing with the timing but found no RPM increase in the little adjustments I did so I put it back.
I reset the needles to what the book says, then ran it, only get about 6700-6750 on the 20x10 with the first muffler shown in the above links.
So, I tried that other muffler, man is it loud, my ears are ringing, but it picked up a bit of rpm. Right off the bat of starting it it hit 7100 but then slowed to a bit over 6900 and that is the best I can get out of it now.
what do you think? Just need more time?

Menz 21x10 "S" @ 7100 rpm.
Amsoil series 2000 2-cycle mixed as recommended at 50-1.
Unlimited on my 16.3 lb Sukhoi and some speed too!
Bisson pitts muffler with the pinched ends cut off.
I think I gained about 100 rpm from this mod.
The high speed needle is tweaked to max rpm and the low speed needle is as lean as I can go and still maintain a decent transition.
I do not like running rich......it fouls plugs, makes low power, makes carbon deposits, and can cause rings to stick/seize.

Alright! Thanks John. I've been looking for some rpm numbers on the Bambula 22x8. My Poulan 60 turned mine at 6450rpm and I was wondering how this compared to some of the other motors out there. I know the Bambulas are pretty heavy loads but they sure seem to pull well in the air. This combo should work fine on my Wildhare Edge.

From reading this thread, it seems to me that some of the misconception leftover from running glow engines is seeping in here. What you should want is the best performance from your engine running at the lowest possible RPMs pulling and braking like you need it to (propped properly).
RPM's don't matter worth a hill of beans so long as they are high enough for the engine to be running optimally (full advance). Let's be careful (talking to myself here too because I'm guilty too sometimes even though I know better) about thinking that we want our gas engines turning > 10k RPMs just because our glow engines do. RPMs don't equate to power directly. I guess that's what I'm really trying to say.

Horsepower numbers should not be used to evaluate engines since they include the dimension of time in the calculations and is therefore an intangible figure.
Power, also known as torque, is really the only thing the engine is producing.

AW Edge and DP Extra. i pulled the brison off the AW Edge last month and gave the plane away. She was a good girl to me 350+ flights. i am looking at the WH Edge as my new plane, however i am keeping my options open. Yes i do have a 40% Radiocraft that thing will outfly any of my stuff it makes any move from IMAC to 3d very very easy and pretty. If not worth me getting rid of my motors so i will have 27-31% planes as long as they keep putting them out, once you have the motor and sevos the planes are the easy part.

There are some good comments regarding this subject. But there are also some important issues to deal with as well
1) type of prop, thin blade, wide blade,stiff blade etc.
2) Mfg of the fuel(gas) and the oil as well
3) ratio of oil to fuel
4) location of where the engine is run and what altitude.
5) ignition, magneto or electronic either throttle coupled or auto advance.
current hp numbers are a numbers game. what you must do is question the mfg of the engine on just how the hp numbers were obtained. with what prop,fuel/mix etc.
What you want is Peak Torque Horsepower, and the only way to get that is via a dyno.
As a note, Nicklesil is a trade name for Mahle Cylinders, not the engine mfg.
Also applies to Sach, Husky and at one time Stihl.
Use the combination that works best for your specific application.
I have a 20# Suchoi on a TS52 swinging a 24X8 @ 6100 With a TNC Tach on 87oct @80:1 Amsoil
And it seems to do everything I want it to do.
But thats my style.
