Here is my first figure:
Saito 56
Fuel: Home made, 10% nitro, 5%, castrol oil,15% koltz
Place: Madrid, Spain, 650m (1900 feet)
Propeller: 11x7 MA
rpm: 11.200 rpm
Very nice and very reliable engine

Static rpm should never exceed 10,000 rpm, or you may damge the engine in the air when it unloads. Try a 12/7 instead which is an apropriate prop for that engine.

That engine will unload at least a 1000 rpm in the air and more in a dive plus it will pull best around 10,000 static. Anybody running these motors much over 10,000 will be sorry sooner or later. Blowing up expensive motors because of ignorance seems like a real waste.

12x6 is the prop Saito recomends for this engine. I have alot of time on mine and it still seems better and better every time I run it. I think I will refer to Saito's own judgement, Thanks Rich.

I originally had a MA 11x7 on mine and tached it at 11,400 using Omega 15%. I have an APC 12x6 on it now which seems to be the best prop for the Sig Kavalier. I must have forgotten to note what I tached, but will get it next time I fly the plane. I really don't do much WOT stuff with it as the Kav is pretty fast except for uplines.

You're right. Reading again the instructions leaflet the recommended propellers are 11x8, 12x6 and 12x8
I used this propeller because is recommended for the OS 52 FS... I will change it...

I've had the .56 for about 3 years and have close to 200 flights on it. I'm not propping mine out of ignorance. The props listed in the Saito manuals are suggested props for initial setups based on APC props and 15% fuel. The list is not a requirement or limitation. The 11,200 and 11,400 RPMs noted are a bit high. I wouldn't be afraid of this prop size, but I agree that the engine probably pulls better at lower RPMs.

From my experience, most of the small-mid block Saitos make best power if proped to the mid to late 10's, they seem to "climb on the cam" when they get over 10500.

Just been playing around with my Cougar 2000 (50in fun fly) having inatalled a saito 56 in place of an OS52 Surpass, which I could never get to throttle perfectly
APC 13x4n 11000 slow to spool up superb thrust
APC 12.25x3.75 11700 excellent spool up nearly as much thrust
Fuel is Model Technics Dynaglo 5%
Model has an AUW of 3.5lbs the 13x4n gave a thrust to weight ratio of 3.0 !!!
