OS FS-200
A buddy's OS FS-200, with 18x8 Menz on 15%nitro Wildcat.
Ran rich on first and only tank. Turned 7900 (still running rich). Guestimate 8200-8500 when broken in. Muffler was very effective in silencing and vibration levels were very acceptable. Smoked a lot and ran pretty clean with little oil residue.
Hated the look of the muffler, but it grows on ya. I kinda like it now. Will be getting one too.

RE: OS FS-200
I have a 200 as well. I thought the Muffler looked pretty good and is quite. Although it can be hard to mount with a cowling in the way, but this is no different than a YS.
200 feet above sea level on a cloudly damp day, mounted firmly on a test stand with 20% Synthenic oil and 5% Nitro I measured the following
17x8 APC @8500 rpm
18x8 Mejlick @8000 rpm
I've only run four tanks though the engine so I was'nt pushing it, I am sure the 18x8 will go out to 8300 will more running time.
I brought this engine to replace my YS 140, as 20/20 fuel is not cheap and it would'nt even look at turning a 17x8 APC.
Same weight, less nitro, less hassle and more power

RE: OS FS-200
We had one at the field last weekend:
1894' MSL
62 degrees
42% humudity
YS 20/20 fuel
APC 18x8W prop
About 8400 dropped from a peak of 8700 RPM.
Only one tank through so he'll probably see close to 9K static peaked in a bit.

RE: OS FS-200
Hi All,
I'm running a new 200, replaced my OS 1.60 with Bisson and pump on a GP Cap Sport.
I'm running a tad rich on Morgans 10% and already matching and/or slightly exceeding my 1.60 numbers on the same fuel. An APC 18x6W simply isn't near enough prop. The APC 18x8W is a good initial match and I think a 20x6 will be easily swung in the low 8's as well.
Static thrust wise I am getting another 12-14 ounces on the APC 18x8W than my 1.60 was pulling (2-300 more RPM already). It's not an accurate scale, but verified in the verticals for sure.
It really livened up the Cap.
I'm ecstatic. It really doesn't cost too much more when you factor in the need for a pitts muffler and pump anyhow.
This motor is just great, and even lighter than the overall 1.60 package. I love it!

RE: OS FS-200
Hey Red, Any other issues?
Fuel usage would be (ounces/minute???)
How does the muffler sound?
Does the muffler stay put or come loose? etc.
Do you plan on using a higher nitro fuel?
Merry Christmas

I fly for 10 minutes as I did with the 1.60, and put in one-2 more turns on my Dave Brown Six Shooter pump to fill it up vs. what I pumped in for the 1.60.
When I was breaking in the motor I ran 2 tanks on the rich side and it ran about 12-13 minutes on 24 ounces.
The muffler hasn't budged.
I'll stick with the 10% as it is cheaper and I have plenty of power.

RE: OS FS-200
Hello there in San Diego.
Saw your thread re OS 200 and nored that there wasn't any update etc.
So, as I,m considering getting one of these, I thought I would ask about your findings on this engine.

RE: OS FS-200
Hi,
Is anyone aware of a Pitts style muffler that will fit an OS 200 4 stroke? (checked Jtec and Bisson and they say none available - waiting to hear back from Slimline).
If not, what are my options?
Anyone know of a flex pipe that will work? Tuned pipe?
I am trying to avoid butchering up the cowl badly or at least minimize.
Any ideas on how to reduce size of exhaust system so I can contain it within the cowl?
Thanks,
Ken

RE: OS FS-200
I had the same problems with this engine and the supplied exhaust/muffler.
As yet, O S engines don't make or supply any accesories which will fit this engine.
My enquiries revealed that the ONLY decent mufflers made currently can be obtained from a company called KELEO CREATIONS.
They make two , possibly three excellent ones which will suit your installation.
Look them up on your favourite search engine; or chgeck out other threads on RC Universe under OS 200.

RE: OS FS-200
How does yours OS200s run at full throttle?
Mine is the non-pumped version and runs rich and sounds like it preignits and the performance is about 1000rpm lower than yours[]
I am thinking maybe the timing is off by one tooth? any thoughts?

RE: OS FS-200
Here comes an update! The camshaft timing was correct as it came from the factory but it was somehow fun now to see how this beautiful engine looks like on the inside
I assembled the OS 200FS and been out running it again today and now it runs great with gobs of torque and runs very clean and quiet turning a APC18x6w @7800rpm. The engine is still new and running rich so I assume I will se a higher rpm within a few tanks of fuel.
The problem must have always been my aluminium-spinner as the props seemed to slipp on the spinner and the spinner on the prophub. What dazzles me the most is how could I fly it for almost two tanks with the prop sliping on the crankshaft??[sm=confused.gif] Well it sounded bad as I said
Now I am however a happy OS200FS owner

RE: OS FS-200
Ken, I had that happen with my Saito 2.20 and a 20x8 MA Classic, I have a 20x6 Just Engines Jen-C that does not slip. When you tightening down on the JE prop, it's like tightening down a piece of steel. I think the JE props are re-badged Biela's. They have a hardwood core.

RE: OS FS-200
Ken Cz,
I have run the engine without the spinner now. The OS200 prop hub matches perfectly for 17-18 dia props. The rough "anti slippage" part of my spinner backplate "the diameter" seems to be made for much smaller props and smaller prop hubs. Until I find a bulletproof solution to prevent slippage I will run the engine without any spinner.

Thanks for the good feedback on the spinners and props.
As soon as we get a warm day here in MI I will be firing up my OS 200 so I will pay extra close attention to this item.

RE: OS FS-200
I posted the below info on another thread then noticed it was a very old one that may not get much response. So here it is again - Thanks for the feedback in advance.
Hi Guys-
I am running the OS 200 mounted about 45 deg. up from inverted and using a Perry VP-30 pump - stock muffler.
Fuel is Powermaster 15%nitro-20% Syn. Oil.
About 2 gallons of fuel max. run through it.
New OS F plug.
Cowl is shrouded to direct air over cylinder with at least 2x exit opening.
Tank is about 6in aft of carb.
For a prop I am using a APC 18-6W.
Question: I am getting is 8000 rpms tops. Does this sound right? Just seems like it is not developing full power. I did not document it but swear I was getting closer to 9000 rpms when engine was newer.
I have spent a lot of time adjusting mixture and cannot lean it out any further. Even had some of the top glow guys at the field go over my set up and tuning and found no problems.
Any suggestions on what I can try/look at to get more power?
Perhaps adjust the perry pump? If so, which way - more fuel or less?
Any help appreciated.
Ken

RE: OS FS-200
Tell us about your plane. 18x6w is good for 3D and hovering. For any other type of flying this prop is too small for the OS200FS.
An 18x8w or 18x10 is better for general aerobatics as it loads the engine more where it likes to be around 7000-7500rpm and gives more speed for loops, rolls .....
